Torn
In Between
Chapter 1:
Being the new kid was pretty hard. I walked
through the glass door of the brick cafeteria and took the first
available seat. Which meant, I was sitting alone. Everyone stopped
munching hungrily on their hamburgers, and stared at me. I was not
going to eat. If I did, everyone’s first impression of me
would be that I was a fatty.
I
sat nervously, and just looked around at the blondes beside me,
talking nonstop about cheerleading practice, and some guy. Someone
tapped my shoulder and I turned to see a beautiful set of blue eyes
staring down at me. His tempting eyes were framed with dark, thick
eyelashes. He was semi-tan, while I was as pale as
snow.
“Uhh...Hey. You’re Cassidy,
right?” he asked. I nodded. “Oh! Hey! Mrs. Tracy
said for me to show you around to all your classes and your dorm
and stuff...” he said, clearly nervous.
“Sounds...Uh...Good?” I said, halfway smiling.
“Amazingly good for me...” he said
flirtatiously.
Been here for about five minutes and I was
already being hit on. Good start so far.
“Come sit with me and my
friends.” He said, jerking his head towards the gray circular
table. Jocks, clearly, were all seated at the table. They buff, tan
faces looked at me and grinned.
I
waved. They blushed all the same time. One person at the other
table behind us caught my attention. He had jet black hair, and
bright, almost neon green eyes. I looked at him, completely
mesmerized until the guy I was sitting by caught my attention. I
didn’t want him to know I was staring at some other
guy.
“I’m Blake by the way...”
he said, smiling, and staring deep into my hazel eyes. He was
gorgeous, so it was only natural that I grinned back.
“I’m John.” said the pale guy in front of me. He
looked like a vampire compared to everyone else at the table,
except for me that is.
I shook his rough, white hand, and
returned a smile to him. I felt Blake tense up. I had two
brothers and a sister, so it was natural that I knew when someone
was ticked off or happy. Blake wasn’t happy. He was clearly
the jealous type, which was sometimes kind of cute on guys. David
had been the jealous type. HAD been, until his death.
