My Twilight Love Story
Chapter 14: La Push
I woke up screaming at three in
the morning. I’d had a nightmare that Victoria had killed
all my family and friends, including the Pierce’s. The only
person left to defend me was Jeremiah. I screamed as she killed
him. That was what woke me up. I heard several pairs of feet
running up the stairs, and my door flew open. Taylor S was the
first to get to me and wrap her arms around me. “What
happened baby girl?” she asked. “I had a
nightmare.” “About?” Colton urged. I certainly
couldn’t tell them it was about a sadistic vampire wanting
revenge. They would lock me up in an asylum for sure.
“Someone hurt Jer and made me watch it happen.” I
lied. They all told me that he was safe at his house and nobody
was hurting him. Slowly, everyone but Taylor S left the room.
“Do you want me to stay with you and keep the nightmares
away?” she whispered. I nodded and she began singing
“Safe and Sound” until I fell asleep. The next
morning was hectic as we all ran around the house packing. Jer
had finally answered the phone after the tenth time I called.
“Yeah, I’m almost done packing. I’ll be there
in a few.” He promised before he hung up. Since my tour had
been canceled due to my mood, I had been doing CD signings to
make it up to my fans. I had promised that my tour would be soon.
I only had one signing left, and it was in my favorite town. No,
not New York City, but Forks, Washington. I always saved it for
last so I had more time there. I loved going down to the La Push
cliffs because they were so beautiful. I had jumped off them
once, and was planning to again. I had already talked Jer into
it. I hadn’t seen or heard Seth in weeks, and it was
driving me crazy.
After the signing, Jeremiah and I were dropped off at the cliffs.
My family would be in town. We didn’t have service on the
cliffs, so we left our phones in the car. When we got to the top,
I turned to the edge. “You ready Jer? It’s really
fun!” I said. “Bella, maybe we
shouldn’t.” he said. I wasn’t listening. As I
edged closer to the drop off, Seth growled. “Bella!
Don’t you dare do this!” I smiled as I thought,
Why not? “Because you’ll get yourself
killed!” I’m sorry, Seth. It’s the only way
I can see and hear you! With that, I jumped before Jer could
grab me. After I plunged into the icy water, I came back up and
beamed at Jer. “Come on! Don’t be such a-“ I
was cut off as a wave pushed me underwater. I desperately tried
to get back to the surface for a breath, but the water
wouldn’t allow it. As I was fighting the water, I saw
something red swimming towards me. As I thrashed around, the
water pushed me hard against the cliff, and I hit my head. Seth
appeared in front of me. At least the last face I get to see
before I drown is the face I want to see the most, I
thought. I love you, Seth. Goodbye. The next thing I
felt was a warm hand pushing against my chest, and I smiled
thinking it was Seth. “Come on Bella! Wake up! Wake up!
Please don’t die on me!” Jer’s frantic voice
yelled. I opened my eyes and saw his face. Then I sat up and
threw up gallons of salt water as he rubbed my back. When I was
done he frowned at me. “You’re an idiot! You know
that right? I told you it was starting to storm and that it
wasn’t safe to jump. But you jumped anyway!” he
scolded. “I didn’t hear you. I’m so sorry
Jeremiah. But if my family asks, we were swimming and a wave
knocked me down. Got it?” “Got it.” He smiled.
He put me on his back as we trudged through the rain towards
town.
