Dreaming of Reality

“ Agh !” I yell, but no-one hears me. “ I think I broke my ankle !”  When I try to stand, a snapping sound, blood, and pain throw me back down.  I moan in pain, and begin to crawl away from what is clearly following me. “ Ahh – ooohh – owww – paiiiinnn ….”  I keep my head low and moan as quietly as humanly possible just to keep my stalker lost in his search for me. “ My love ….”  I hear. “Where are you-?”  I am beyond any feeling now, I just need to get away. Away from my stalker, this alleyway, even as simple as reality, I need to get away from it all …. Literally. “ You will come to me,” The laugh chills even the marrow in my bones. “ And I will love you forever and ever.” A growl. “ Only if you don’t taste as good as you smell ….” A single sentence and I’m up to crying silently again, I’ve become quite good at that. Once the footsteps disappear, I moan again in pain. “ All a dream ….” I whisper to myself in hopeful reassurance. “ Just a dream… Only a horrible nightmare… I’ll wake up to see Joy on the floor, probably rolling around, complaining about her low sugar. Hahah …. Just a nightmare ….” I reassure myself, but this dream was all too real for anyone to believe.
