Still Beating
Chapter 6

I stretched out my arms and dived carefully into the pool. My body met the water with a cold shock and I plunged through the surface letting the clear pool’s water surround my body. I pressed my feet to the ground and in one motion opened my eyes and kicked off the pool’s bottom shooting out of the water! I stood still above the water just being able to touch the bottom, my wrists burnt and my shoulder ached but I grabbed the side of the pool and with all my strength kicked off gliding through the water like a knife right across to the other side. The water splashed my face and left me refreshed. I smiled and floated above the water.

That’s when I heard a guy’s voice, “What happened to your shoulder?”
I panicked and sunk below the water. It was after school and I was at the schools pool anyone can use it but no one ever did that’s why I felt comfortable going in and not having to worry about anyone seeing me. I had gone to school that day and Sam ignored me so I acted like I didn’t notice and went to the pool after to cool off! I looked through the water and saw the figure of a guy. I pushed my head above the water and looked around to see a guy with brown hair looking at me. He was wearing swim trunks and no shirt. I covered up my scars on my wrists and quickly climbed out of the pool.

“Football,” I lied and wrapped my body in a towel.
“Oh can I take a look?” He asked walking towards me, “I met you at that party you were pretty sick.”
I could remember faintly after the party with Sam a guy holding up my hair. (Chapter 3)
Embarrassed I spoke back, “Oh yeah, uh I got to go!”
“Ok see you around but you should have at least someone look at that bruise!”
“Ok I will thanks!”

I practically ran out of the room and up to the locker room to change. It was empty and quiets just what I needed to think. I washed up in the showers then got dressed and began to look myself over. My wrists looked horrible and so did my shoulder, my legs were scratched and cut and bruised, my arms were aching and red with cuts, and my stomach was swelling. I sat down at the sink and splashed water on my face.
“It will be ok,” I whispered trying to convince myself, but not succeeding.
My shoulder look worse by the day and I began to worry none of the swelling had gone down and it was blacker then I remember it being. I swallowed hard and new I needed to ask someone for help and since my dad refused to believe I was hurt and Sam was mad I had no one, so I grabbed my stuff and walked down to the pool were the boy was swimming.
“What’s your name?” I asked coolly.
“Ely,” He stood in the middle of the pool.
“Ok, you offered to, uh, take a look,” I stutter.
“At your shoulder, I’d be happy to,” He climbed out of the pool dripping with water his muscles shinning. He had perfect brown hair and blue eyes.
I smiled, “Thanks.”
I pulled down my sleeve exposing my shoulder, he smiled, “My dad’s a doctor so I’m good at the medical stuff.”
It felt awkward and hurt a lot but in the end he told me what he thought it was, “I can’t say for sure of course but have you gotten it checked for a minor break?”
“Uh no,” I got
Worried
