Chapter 2
I was startled by the question but I didn’t have the
time to answer. In the next instant I was in a hospital bed
gasping for the air that I couldn’t get. It was
nearly impossible to get that first breath. The next thing
I knew there were doctors and nurses rushing into the
room.
“She’s awake!” A nurse in purple yelled.
“Doctor, she is awake!” And then she left the
room and the doctor came in.
“Hello Hannah, how are you feeling?” The doctor
was surprisingly young and attractive.
“Wh-where am I a-at?” It was impossibly hard to
talk, my throat was so dry. I noticed a glass of water to
my right. The doctor must have seen my eyeing it because he
walked over to get it for me.
“You are at the St. Moris hospital. Your friend
Sarah said you fell off your roof? You are a very lucky
girl; you fell almost 30 feet to the ground. Although you
did fracture your wrist and break your shoulder bone. But
with the surgery we have you scheduled for in about an hour
it should heal within three weeks. Perfect timing because
your friend tells me that’s when softball starts? We
don’t want you to jump right into it, but you will be
able to play once it starts.” He said all of this so
calmly. He could probably see the look of relief that came
across my face.
“Thank you doctor.” I said in a quiet
voice.
“We have to get the patient ready for surgery now
doctor.” Said the nurse in purple.
Leave me some feedback!
