“…and this, is Mellisa, Terri’s daughter who will be tagging along with us for the tour,” Sam said, guiding me forward to the boys with his hand on my shoulder. The five of them were now standing and the first moved towards me with his hand outstretched. “Hi there! I’m Louis. But, of course you’d already know that wouldn’t you?” he said with a cheeky wink. “Louis,” scolded Sam in a mock ‘watch it, kid’ tone. I laughed. The other boys stepped forward, introducing themselves as Liam, Niall and Zayn and lastly, the king of curls himself, Harry Styles. I seemed to remain perfectly sane meeting the other boys but when those green eyes focused on me, my stomach dropped through the floor, cleared nine stories and ended up in the bottom most level of the underground car park. “Hi, I’m Harry,” he said. It took all my strength to force out a: “Hey. Mellisa.” He shook my hand, “Mellisa,” he repeated, smiling, putting emphasis on the 'sa'. Oh God. He ran a hand through his hair and I stood there like a wide-eyed idiot trying to get my head around the fact that these boys were standing in front of me and not looking out at me from a computer screen. “So you’re from Australia, huh?” said Liam, “Must’ve been a crazy flight!”

“Yeah it was. Luckily I just slept most of the time, planes start to drive me insane after a while,” I said, putting on a facade of confidence and effortlessness.

Sam interrupted my scrambled train of thought with an instruction for the boys. “Now, lads. Promise me you’ll take good care of young Mellisa here. You’re really the only kids on this tour so stick together for me, alright?” 

“Of course we’ll take care of her!” said Liam, giving me a little one armed hug. Sam gave an appreciative smile.

“Good. Now Terri will, of course, as tour manager, be organising every little aspect of this tour for you, boys. If there’s a problem, if you need anything, go straight to her. She doesn’t bite, I promise you,” Sam added with a chuckle. 

“Hey, speak for yourself Sam,” laughed Mum. “No, but really boys, I’m not just here as your tour manager. I’m here as a friend, a second mum, whatever you need. If you’re feeling homesick, a bit down, you know who to come to.”

“There you go, Harry,” said Louis, poking a startled Harry in the back, “There’s no need to be nervous about leaving your mummy anymore.” We all broke out in giggles, i couldn't stop even when it wasn't funny anymore. awkward.

“Shut up, Louis” Harry said, faking embarrassment. “But it does look like we’re lucky to have you along with us Terri.”

“Now, ladies, I’ll show you your rooms and leave you to settle in”, said Sam, moving back into the corridor.
“See you boys later!” he called back.

As I lay covered in blankets in my huge hotel bed, i couldn't stop thinking about the boys. I hadn’t even had a proper conversation with any of them, yet suddenly, this trip seemed a whole lot more exciting.
