I
ride to the front of the forest to meet
Nick
“Hey.” He says to
me as soon as he sees me and smiles.
I
say hi back and we start riding.
“Where are you
from?” He asks.
“Australia.” I
reply
“I thought so, your
accent is beautiful.” He tells me.
I
blush a little.
“So how was the
move?” He asks.
“Good.” I
reply
“Excited for
school?” He asks.
“Not
really.”
“I go to a boarding
school not far from yours. It’s an all guys
school.” He tells me.
I
nod. I kinda wish he would shut up so could pretend he
wasn’t there so I could just ride.
“You don’t talk
much do you?” He asks.
I
don’t answer.
“How good are you at
riding?” he asks.
“Well let’s just
say that it feels like I learned to ride before I learned how
to walk.” I reply.
“Really? Want to
race?” He asks excitedly.
I
look to him and say “You’re
on.”
I
start to canter. I look behind me and he is right on Ravens
tail. He tells his horse to go faster. He passes me easily and
winks. I smile and start galloping towards him. We run out of
the forest into a field and we slow our horses down. Nick comes
up beside me.
“you win, your horse is
very fast, what’s its
name?”
“Her name is Raven. What
about your horse?” I ask
“His name is
chestnut.” He replies
“He’s
beautiful.”
“Thanks.” There was
a awkward pause for a couple of seconds as we rode back to the
stables. “You’re different.” He says
shyly.
“How so?” I
ask
“Your quiet, mysterious,
but most of all beautiful,” I blush, “I like that
about you.”
