I was ready to start a new day. Friday. I was ready not to be tormented and act like David’s unofficial girlfriend. I wore a lacy, white shirt, a long necklace, skinny jeans, little brown boots, a brown jacket, and a scarf. It kept me nice and warm.

I walked down to where I usually meet my chauffer. He opened the door for me, I was about to step inside when the blurry outline of a person crossed in front of me, shutting the door.
I was taken back. I stumbled backwards a bit, only to see Mike, panting.
My eyebrows pulled together, “What?”
He breathed, “Come…to the bakery…now!”
My eyes widened, “Wha-What’s going on?”
He put both of his hands on my shoulders.
“It’s Lily,” he said.
I gasped. “No,” I said, “No. No! No, Mike! Not Lily! Please, please tell me your joking!” “Maddy, please, I’m not kidding.”
“Stop it Mike! This isn’t funny.”
“Lily is hurt, Maddy. You need to cooperate with me, here,” he screamed in my face.
That’s when everything went black.

“Madison,” someone breathed. It was my mom.
“Mommy?” I whispered.
“Maddy?” said another. David.
“She’s awake!” said two more people, my dad and Mike.
“Shh,” my mother hushed, “Calm down. You can talk to her later. Right now let us have a little time.”
The boys nodded and they all left the room. They looked sleepy and worn out. Why was I in a hospital? My heart started to beat faster. Not again. Not another car accident…right? Please, God, help me.
“It’s alright dear,” said my mom, “You’re okay. You just scared us a little when you fainted. Mike didn’t know what to do, your father and I were at work, and David was at school. So, Mike called the ambulance. Here you are.”
I fainted? When? What day was it? Why the hell was I with Mike?
“Something happened to Lily,” she continued, “You were about to go to school, but Mike stopped you, told you something was wrong, apparently screamed at you, and that’s when you fainted.”
It was starting to come back to me; I could picture Mike’s scared, pale face in my mind as he screamed in my face.
“Mom…Lily? What happened to her?” I breathed, nervousness shaking my voice.
She swallowed and put out her hand for me to hold it while she told me the news. I could tell it was going to be bad. No wonder I fainted earlier. I braced myself for what was about to happen.
