“Where are we going?” I asked once we ended our kiss.

He fake sighed, “I told you, it’s a surprise.”

“But I wanna know,” I tried using the puppy dog eyes, but then realized that he was driving and couldn’t see me.

“Baby, I promise you’ll love it,” he assured me.

“You better be right.”  “Or else,” I added.

“Or else what?” he smirked.

“Just don’t let me down,” I stuck my tongue out at him but then remembered stupidly that he still couldn’t see what I was doing.

We drove in silence for a few minutes until I turned on the radio, and Smile, by Avril Lavigne, came on.  Feeling comfortable around my boyfriend I sang, and really meant what I was singing, “And since that day, you stole my heart and you’re the one to blame.  And that’s why I smile, it’s been a while since every day and everything has felt this right.  And now you turn it all around and suddenly you’re all I need, the reason why I-I-I, I smi-i-i-ile.”  As I was singing that, I was looking right at Austin and I know he was watching with his peripheral vision because he smiled himself.

“You know I meant that, right boo?” I asked.

He replied, “Of course, otherwise you wouldn’t have sung it so wholeheartedly.”

Awwwwh! He noticed!  “You noticed?” I asked, surprised.

“I notice everything about you Tiffany,” he replied easily.

“Really?  That’s so sweet!” I exclaimed, almost too happily, but I could never be too happy around Austin.

“You deserve all of it and then some, well actually all and then even more,” he answered.

I was actually struck speechless but I was afraid if I didn’t say anything that Austin would be a tad disappointed, he would never say anything about it, of course, but I knew that he would be thinking it.  I had to say the right thing though, so I decided that I would tell him I was speechless.

“Babe,” I breathed, “You’ve actually struck me speechless.”

(Austin’s P.O.V)

I made her speechless?  Every time I look at her I have to catch my breath.

I smirked in spite of myself, but stopped once I realized that I was in case she saw.  “I’m sorry,” I casually said.

“It’s okay; silences aren’t awkward with you,” Tiff responded.

“I know they aren’t.  That’s one thing I love about us, to be honest,” I whispered, more to myself than her.

“I love that too,” answered Tiff even if I was talking to myself.

By this time we were almost to my uncle’s restaurant and the song had switched to Robots & Aliens, by Forever the Sickest Kids, and I sang along as did Tiff.

As the end of the song came, we were just pulling into the parking lot of my uncle’s restaurant.  I turned the car off and unbuckled my seatbelt and sprinted to the passenger side so I could open the door for her, like the gentleman I am.

She blushed, “Thanks Austin.”

“You’re very welcome Tiffany,” I smiled.

I lead her to the side where the fire escape was.  I started climbing the first flight of stairs.  “Well, are you coming?” I smirked as I looked behind myself to see if Tiff was coming when she, of course, wasn’t.

“Are you sure we can?” she retorted.
