i have a few friends who are openly gay, and i've heard them say "that's gay" i've said it once or twice, but that was a long time ago, and i am bisexual. so it just depends on the person

Some do, whereas others are too flamboyant and think it's offensive. Which it can be taken that way, so it's totally understandable.
