If I Die Young; Part Eight
Hailey's Point of View

I was so relieved when Eli said it back I couldn't put it into words. I didn't know about the impact that I was making in his life though. For the while, it was going great.

We were at the mall with Lynn. Lynn just got her allowance, so we decided we should spend it. We were just walking out of Starbucks when a girl came up to us. She was a little shorter than average, tan with big brown eyes, and light brown hair. She was really pretty.

"Hi," She said to Eli, ignoring Lynn, "Here's my number, call me sometime?"

I couldn't believe how jealous I got. I was so mad I wanted to kill her. That's a little harsh. I know what being dead is like, and I don't want to make someone like this.

"Sorry," He said blushing, "I have a girlfriend." He looked at me when he said it. I smiled the biggest smile I could. The girl walked walked away, obviously upset.

"Who's your girlfriend?" Lynn asked.

"Made it up, she's not my type," He said. I knew he was lying.

Lynn didn't buy it either. She didn't ask anymore questions though.

After the mall we watched movies at Eli's house. The popcorn was gone, as usual. Lynn and Eli eat it all in five minutes! So Lynn went to get some more.

"You should've taken the girls number," I said, suprising myself the second the words came out of my mouth.

"Why? I love you!" He said back.

"I can't make you happy."

"Yes you can! You are just by being alive!" My mouth dropped.

"I'm not alive. I can't give you kids. I can't marry you. We can't go on dates. I can't grow old with you. I can't do anything for you."

"But Hailey-" I put my hand up to cut him off. I walked over to him and kissed him. Just a small kiss.

"I love you," I whispered
.

Eli's Point Of View

"I love you," She whispered, the feeling of her kiss was still on my lips.

"I love you t-" She was gone. Just then Lynn came back. She could tell by my face something was wrong.

"What happened? Where's Hailey?" She asked, setting the popcorn on the table.

"She left, I don't know why," I lied.

Lynn's Point Of View

We didn't see Hailey since that night. Me and Eli hung out, but it wasn't the same. So we lost contact. She seemed to have just disappeared.
