Chapter 25

Aubree's POV
I woke up in my bed with my pajamas on. The last thing I remembered of last night was falling asleep in Cooper's arms in the hotel lobby. I have no idea what happened after that. I sat up in bed, rubbed my eyes, and looked at the clock. 11:37. I lazily got up out of bed and walked downstairs. I passed the living room, nobody was there. It was strange considering it was a Sunday morning, so nobody had to work. "Mom? Coop?" I called out. No answer. I wandered into the kitchen. On the table was a plate with a stack of 2 pancakes, eggs, and bacon. I smiled to myself. There was a note set next to the plate.

Happy 17th birthday sweetheart!
I hope you had a good time at your party last night even though I was told some things went wrong. In case you were wondering, you fell asleep in the lobby at the hotel. Cooper took you home shortly after, dropped you off, and then went back to the party to help Mackenzie and Eli clean up. 
I'm writing this note to you because, unfortunately, my boss called me last night, and I have to go on a unplanned business trip to Chicago. I should be back on Wednesday. My flight takes off at 11:30, so I'll call you as soon as I land. 
I love you, Aubree. Happy birthday.

I set the letter down when I finished reading. Okay, so now I understood things a little better. So if Mom's flying to Chicago, where's Cooper??? I left my plate of uneaten food for a moment and ran upstairs to get my phone. I had over 20 new texts! Most of them were messages wishing me "happy birthday", but one was from Coop. It was left at 11:15.
"Hey hun. I stayed over at Eli's last night after helping clean up. I stopped by the house about 10 minutes ago to say goodbye to your mom and see you, but you were still sleeping. I'm at the grocery store and running a few errands now, I'll be home around noon. Love you and happy birthday. Can't wait to spend it with you." 

I walked back downstairs to the kitchen. Cooper should be home in about 10 minutes, so I sat down and ate. I finished the entire plate. Damn! I just ate alllllll that food! No wonder people get so fat when they're pregnant, they're eating for two people! I was washing my dishes when the door opened and Cooper came in with bags of groceries. He set them down on the kitchen counter and wrapped his arms around me from behind. I turned around and hugged him. He hugged me tight and kissed my head. "Happy birthday Aubree." I looked up at his dark blue eyes and gorgeous smile. I stood on my tiptoes and kissed him lightly on the lips. That light little kiss, soon turned into major kissing. We stood making out in the kitchen for several minutes. When we pulled apart, out of breath, Cooper swept me up in his arms and carried me to the couch in the living room. I was kissing his neck and then we sat down on the couch and started making out again. I was sitting on Cooper's lap straddling him. His arms were around me, mine hands were in his hair. I had a feeling deep down inside me, that today was the day that Cooper and I were finally going to make love together. And with that thought, I began to smile as we kissed.
