and it's not a big deal.
we put a band-aid on it,
and of course it'll heal.

chances are you hurt at first,
or maybe it seemed completely painless.
but either way the cut's still there,
a reminder of how you were careless.

but we also bleed on the inside,
both near the surface and down deep.
maybe it just makes us kind of upset,
or it could just make us weep.

the soul and the heart,
they take it the worst.
the scars are there forever,
even if they're the first.

all cuts leave a scar,
inside and out.
sometimes they even still hurt,
the pain might make you shout.

some cuts don't even bleed,
but regardless, they still occurred.
even though with time,
the memory may seem blurred.

but some cuts may remain painful,
and hurt after a simple touch.
but ones that seem to mean nothing?
they don't usually hurt as much.

the cut may even bleed again,
if you make a wrong move.
if you don't give it that time to heal,
it won't have the chance to improve.

cuts may fade quickly,
but it's the scars that last.
who knows how long they'll stay,
some may go away fast.

the pain may make some people may cry,
others may simply push it away.
some have a lot to tell about it,
others have nothing to say.

depending on how deep it was,
the scars are here to stay.
you may not see them,
but they're there either way.

the scars may be on your soul,
maybe on your skin.
they could be on your heart,
or even deep within.

they're a reminder,
whether it be good or bad.
some may make you upset,
others could make you glad.

the pain existed at some time,
maybe it's still there now.
we all want to get rid of the scars,
but we have yet to find out how.
