Story of
a Girl #16
It had been a few weeks since the big dance
debacle. Caleb and I had been together officially for awhile. My
injuries were healed, and everything was back to normal. Everyone
said me and Caleb were super cute, and there was a Plain White T's
concert that friday Caleb wanted me to go to with him. I was really
excited.
The day of the concert, i woke up at 5:00am, went for
a jog, (i had been really active since i got my cast off, i had to
get back in shape), went back home, showered, threw on an old feild
hockey jersey, some Abercrombie Skinny jeans, and navy blue
Converse.
the school day went mostly normally, and then i went
home and started to get ready for the concert, it was about a half
hour drive and Caleb was picking me up at 6:30. I put on some
mascara and eyeliner, the soccer jersey Caleb had given me the week
before, and left my jeans and converse on. My hair was in two thick
braids and it ended up looking really cute. I looked in the mirror.
I was glowing. I looked happy, for once. I had had everything i
wanted, except Caleb, before school started. I hadnt realized how
happy he made me. I think everyone else did, though.
Caleb picked me up and the car ride was spent talking
about how excited we were. I loved Caleb's car, it was cute, and it
wasnt some jock-show-off-im-the-best-car, like most of the really
athletic guys at our school.
We got to the concert, the first song was "Write
you a song," one of my favorites. The next song was
"1,2,3,4," my very favorite of that band. I felt
someone's arms wrap around me on the chorus- Caleb's.
"there's only one thing, two do, those three words, for
you..." Sang Tom Higginson,
"I love you." i heard. But it wasnt Tom, this time, it
was Caleb.
"Back at you, love" I told him and kissed him, on the
lips. That was the first time we had kissed on the lips before, and
it was really special. I heard Tom Higginson over the
microphone,
"A friend of mine wanted me to dedicate this next song to his
girl. Hey, Leah, Caleb's a keeper." He said, and went on to
play "hey there delilah."
Tears came to my eyes. "How??" I managed to get out
through tears of joy, and disbelief about how sweet this guy,
Caleb, my guy, could actually be. Caleb just smiled and hugged
me.
"I love you," I told him, "Don't you
forget."
