Chapter 28
Sophies POV

Grace and I have been great friends throughout our entire life basically. I called her the other day to catch up and chat before she went to go see Sam, who I knew in highschool, at his place. She told me the news about her being pregnant and I was ecstatic knowing she'd be a great mom.
Grace called me again today to go shopping with her for some baby necessities since Sam has something important to deal with. I was aware that Sam was in the army shortly after Grace found out. He was due to leave within the week, which Grace wasn't looking forward to.
The doorbell rand just as I grabbed my keys to my car, Grace appearing behind it.
"Sophie!" She shrieked.
"Grace! How are you?" I laughed hugging her tightly.
"Doing good, tired actually." She giggled out.
"You'll experience a lot of that." I nudged her.
"Ready to go?" She asked.
"All set."
She smiled as she hooked her arm through mine as we walked down the sideway heading to my car.
...
"I wonder if she could hide french fries in her hair." I asked sitting in the food court.
"She probably has some in there already." Grace added.
"Maybe she could use another one?" I pondered holding up my fry.
I took aim and it landed in her mop of curls, the lady not even noticing, Grace died of laughter.
"How did she not feel that?!" Grace choked out through laughed.
"Must have a protection shield." I shrugged causing us both to laugh like idiots.
"It's probably a wig." Grace added.
We finished up our drinks before tossing our garbage into the garbage can, heading off towards the baby shoppe.
"So how are things with you and Sam?" I asked making conversation.
"Alright, we got into an argument yesterday, he tried testing me, so I gave it to him." She replied.
"Really?"
"Mhm, After we finished shopping, he dropped me off at home and I just walked inside, didn't wait for him. I was ticked off. He texted me early this morning saying he can't see me because something important came up apparently, what I don't know." She added.
"Everything you said on the phone then." I spoke.
"Pretty much. I mean, he leaving soon. I don't want him to leave with us arguing you know? I'll admit that he has his anger moments but I'm afraid that one day I might set him off." She whispered, tossing white newborn undershirts into her basket.
"Yeah, I get you. Maybe you need to talk, and what about Conner?" I asked next.
"Conner terrifies me. I mean, When Sam leaves I don't know what I'll have to deal with. I plan on getting a place of my own when Sam leaves, without him knowing, that way I can get it all over and done with." She answered.
"Good idea, I know Sam enough to know he'll want to buy everything and do everything, you need to get it over with, I'll help you if you need it." I smiled tossing her a toy.
"Thanks Sophie. You're awesome." She laughed playing the toy into the basket.
Just as we finished checking out, Graces phone rang.
"Its Sam." She said looking at the Caller I.D.
"Go ahead." I replied sitting on the bench outside the store as she stepped off to the side.

Graces POV
I excused myself as Sophie sat down on the bench, pressing the talk button and muffling a hello into the phone.
"Grace?!" Sam shouted through the phone.
"Yes?" I replied.
"Where are you?!" He replied panicked.
"Im at the mall, what's going on?" I asked.
"I need you to go to my place." He told me.
"I'm out shopping with Sophie. I can't right now." I replied annoyed.
"Grace!" He shouted at me.
"Tell me whats going on then." I demanded.
"You know I told you I had to deal with something right? Well I did, least I thought I did." Sam rambled off.
"Sam, spit it out." I shouted at him.
"Look, He knows Conners brother, Conner is apparently starting more problems. Theres a fight tonight, between me and him at the old gym you went to, remember?" Sam asked.
"Yes I do, Why are you fighting?" I asked, suddenly scared.
"Because, he's horrible Grace, you know that. I'm ending it once and for all." Sam spat.
"Sam, you're going to kill him." I whispered.
"Good." Sam replied sourly.
"Have fun then Sam, Im not going to watch you beat someone to death." I replied.
"Grace, I need you there."
"Sam, I'm pregnant. I don't need this, not today. You're leaving in a few days, thats bad enough."
"Grace please?" Sam begged.
"I'll be at your flat in an hour." I sighed.
I hung up the phone before telling Sophie the news, she agreed to drive me.
We quickly headed for the exit and headed off towards Sam.
