An Unknown Land
-Chapter Two-
"Nothing's changed," Abrianna sighed to herself. She would stay the night here, and then she would start to move.
Loyalty was limited, and Abrianna had known for a while that she was thelemic. Her trinket, a metal charm, hung loosely around her neck. A woman's form was twisted and stretched. In the moments of her ceremony before the had to announce to the whole town what her career was, she stared at her trinket for a few minutes; hoping to understand. Luckily, there was a line of new adults in front of her. She knew about Thelemics, she knew she had to lie. "The voice told me my future," she droned as she was taught, "I am to be a dancer. My trinket represents my flexibility, grace, and passion. This will be my bright Briatus future."
Abrianna ran her hand over the metal figure as she walked through her old rooms. Her parents were killed by a Thelemic. It drove people mad to be alone. To be the only one who didnt know what they were meant to do in life. To be secluded from a community. Abrianna undestood that pain. Abrianna was seven when her parents were murdered; Caleb was only four. The two couldn't afford a house, so they moved into the apartment. Caleb would not remember the house. He would not remember his parents. He would only remember that a Thelemic was the reason he was an orphan.
A pounding on the door interrupted Abrianna's memories. The pounding of her heartbeat mixed into the sound while she crept to the window. She saw a mop of brown curls and then her heart calmed down. It wasn't Caleb's blonde hair. Caleb was back in the crowd. Abrianna gently opened the door.
"Can I help you?" She tried her best to not look as thought she was going to throw up from fear.
"You're Thelemic, right?" The brunette strode into the room and closed the door. He checked the windows before closing their blinds and ran through the house to make sure no one else was home.
Abrianna didn't know how to react, but when he finally camed back into the room, she was well enough composed to repsond.
"That's rediculous. They were killed off years ago!" She played with her hair as if to seem casual.
"Come off it, you ran out of the town sqaure. You know just as well as I do that Thelemics aren't a genetic group. We don't know how we're chosen!"
"...We?"
"Yeah, I'm Thelemic. Now fess up, I know you are!"
"How do I know you aren't just rying to buddy me up and then run to Council?" Abrianna moved closer to her bag where she knew her knife was hiding.
"Why would I do that? We need you for the group!" The brunette shook his head.
"What group? Who are you?"
"Lucas. And the concilliabule." We don't have time. You need to come with me. And you need to put the knife down!" Lucas held his hands up and backed up from Abrianna.
"Why should I trust you?!"
"You shouldn't, but you don't have time! Come on, Red. We have to go to the hideout. Someone will find you here!"
"I can't just leave here with soem stranger!"
"Thelemics have a connection. You wouldn't know, cause you never tried to tune into it!" Lucas groaned.
"What? You're saying you hear voices?" Abrianna flashed her knife again.
"Fine. I'll show you." Lucas moved towards Abrianna, and she slashed his arm. A deep gash formed.
"DEAR GOD PUT THE KNIFE DOWN. I just want to show you!" And with that, Lucas grabbed Abrianna and put his finers on her temples. Suddenly she could see a group of people in a room; laughing. One of them seemed to look right at Abrianna.
"Come on, Red. We all know you're Thelemic. We're all Thelemic here!" The blonde girl laughed. "Lucas, just grab her. We don't have time to prove ourselves."
"Gladly," Lucas muttered. With that, he picked up Abrianna and threw her over his shoulder. Kicking him in the back, she sturggled against him. Lucas grabbed her bag and headed out the door.
