This is my freshman year at a new school.
I've made so many amazing new friends, and I love them all to death...
but I don't know how to feel about that.
If I tell them I used to cut and starve myself... then they'll leave me.
Everyone always leaves me eventually.

chapter 3
I ent he next two weeks sitting in my bed, blasting music and crying.
The only reason I ever got up was to use the bathroom.
One day, my mom knocked on the door.
"Sophie?"
"The door isn't locked. Come in."
I heard the door creak open.
"Sophie, you need to go back to school."
"No, I don't."
"Yes, you do. I know it's hard... but..."
"Exactly. You know it's hard. So let me be a depressed idiot."
"Look, Sophie. You have to go. You need the education."
"No I don't. Buzz off."
She walked up to me, and snatched the iPod from my hands.
"If you don't go, you're not having this back."
"Ugh. Fine. I'll go."
"Good girl."
She handed back the iPod to me and I set it down on the nightstand.
I walked inside the bathroom and took an extra long shower.
I didn't even shower the past few weeks.
I must've smelled really bad.
After I got out I dried myself and blew dry my hair.
I put on some skinny jeans and a cardigan over my white tank.
I didn't really care how I looked, I just put on whatever I found.
How could I care about anything right now?
I grabbed the bag and left the house.

As soon as I walked through the doors of the high school, people started welcoming me back.
Especially Kendall.
The second she saw me, she ran up to me and trapped me in a hug.
"OH MY GOD SOPHIE! YOU'RE FINALLY BACK! YOU HAD NO IDEA HOW MUCH I MISSED YOU!"
I remained silent.
I really couldn't come up with anything to say.
"Come on, let's get to class."
She grabbed my hand and pulled me to homeroom.
But then I bumped into Mr. Kennedy.
The principal.
Crap.

"Sophia Brown, mind explaining why you have been absent for the last two weeks?"
"My boyfriend, Drew... He died in a car accident. I just couldn't get myself to come."
"Hmm... doesn't seem like you would lie about something like that. You are excused."
"Thanks."
I left the office and went back into homeroom.
I took my usual spot next to Kendall and my other friend, Nikki.
We talked for a bit before our teacher came in.
"Hello, class. As you may have heard, one of our students, Drew Miner, has recently passed away.
Today is the day of his funeral, which will be held at the Sasha Park. For this reason, all of our students
may not attend school today to go to the funeral. Anyone is welcome to stay if they wish."
Drew Miner.
My heart sunk when I heard that name.
I wanted to cry, but I couldn't.
"...I think I'll be going. Bye."
I brushed a tear away from my eye and walked out.

I understand how scissors can beat paper, and I get how a rock can beat scissors, but there's no f**king way paper can beat rock.
Is paper surposed to magically wrap around the rock and leave it immobile?
Why the hell can't paper do this to scissors?
Screw scissors, why can't paper do this to people?
Why aren't sheets of college ruled notebook paper constantly suffocating students as they take notes in class?
I'll tell you why, because paper can't beat anybody.
A rock would tear that sh*t up in 2 seconds.
When I play rock paper scissors, I always choose rock.
Then when someone claims to have beaten me with their paper, I can punch them with my ready clenched fist and say,
"Oh sh*t I'm sorry, I thought paper would protect you."
