"Okay, calm down, calm down. First, call Grandma and tell her you are bringing Maddie and Rachael there right away so she can watch them while you stay with mom. Then grab mom's bag, she should have it packed already. Get Maddie and Rachael into the car, drop them off at Grandmas, and don't forget mom! Then take her to the hospital and I will go to Grandmas with Patrick and Lina, get Madison and Rachael, and meet you at the hospital. Got it?"
"Okay Mace. I think I am good. Good thing you know all this stuff, this is going to be you in a few months. I'll call you as mom's contractions get faster and she reaches about 9 and a half inches. Wish me luck!"
"Good luck! Talk to you soon."
I texted Patrick and Lina to tell them that mom was on her way to the hospital to deliver our new baby brothers, and went back to sleep for a little while. I woke up again when I got another call from Bruce.
"Maci! Your mom is at 8 inches, just thought I'd call you and tell you that."
"Really!?! Alright, we will go to Grandmas, get the girls, then meet you at the hospital!"
"Okay, see you soon."
"I called Patrick and Lina and told them to be ready in 20 minutes. Grandmas house was 20 minutes from PCA, and by the time we left Grandmas and got to the hospital, our new brothers would most likely be born. I was ready in just about 20 minutes, met Patrick and Lina at Blur, and we left for Grandmas.
We were about half way to Grandmas house, when I felt my seat get wet. I looked down and saw that my water broke! 3 months early! I still have 2 months of school left! I told Patrick, and he quickly drove to the hospital. Ironically, I was in the same room as mom.
4 more hours into mom's labor...
I heard the doctor say she would start pushing. Half hour later, I heard a baby's cry.And then 3 minutes later, another one. My brothers were born. The doctor opened the curtain so I could see them. One looked like Bruce, and the other looked like Lina. Bruce and mom agreed on both names ; Matthew and Joel.
5 into my labor....
I started pushing. 15 minutes later, I had gotten one of my girls out of my body and into the world. 4 minutes after the first baby was born, the next one came. 2 out, 1 to go. 3 minutes later, last baby was out of me. Dylan was the only one on my side of the room. After the doctor cleaned and swaddled the babies, we had to figure out which girl matched to which name. The last one looked like Scarlett, or at least that is what Dylan said. The first one looked like a Carly and the 2nd one looked like Marley. For their middle names, we couldn't really decide, so we decided it would be unique to give the girls eachothers names for their middle names. At the end of the day, 5 new babies were born into the Brookes family. In birth order,
Matthew Joseph Brookes, Birthdate: April 24th. Time: 10:32 a.m.
Joel Ryan Brookes. Birthdate: April 24th. Time: 10:35 a.m.
Carly Scarlett Brookes. Birthdate: April 24th. Time: 5:47 p.m.
Marley Carly Brookes. Birthdate: April 24th. Time: 5:51 p.m.
Scarlett Marley Brookes. Birthdate: April 24th. Time 5:54 p.m.
Carly, Marley, and Scarlett were dangerously premmature. They have to spend 2 months in the hospital in IC (intensive care) so the doctors can make sure their lungs are developing correctly and every other body part develops correctly and they stay healthy. What a day. 5 new babies born into the family. And just when I thought it couldn't get any better....
