She spins and she sways, to whatever song plays
without a care in the world,
and I'm sitting here wearing the weight of the world on my shoulders
it's been a long day and there's still work to do,
she's pulling at me sayin' "dad,
I need you, there's a ball at the castle and I've been invited,
and I need to practice my dancing" Oh please, daddy please...
Confession #1:
I'm one of those girls who never had a daddy daughter dance. Who never really had a daddy, actually. I have dreamed about it all my life, though. Wondered how it would feel to swing and sway in my daddies arms. To dance close to the man who is supposed to walk me down the isle, to cry when his little girl leaves, but is happy for her. I never really thought I needed him so much.
