    Chapter 38
I've called Scarlet's cell phone at least twenty times by now and she has yet to answer.
Everytime I called, the reciever went straight to voicemail.
It has been hours after Lola broke the news by confirming Scarlet's pregnancy, and I was getting frustrated and impatient.
Scarlet and I were far from best friends right now, but I needed to know is she was okay and who the hell was the father of her baby.
"Crap, why isn't she answering?" I hissed, tossing my phone down on Travis' bed forcefully.
Travis, who was sulking lazily in his couch, wrapped his arms around my waist.
He pulled me towards him, as I laid over his body.
"Stop worrying." Travis kissed my hair. "Scarlet's a big girl. She can take care of herself."
I groaned, burying my face in his neck, breathing in his scent.
"I hope so." I sighed. "I just want to know who the father is."
I suddenly thought back to how Travis and Scarlet once slept with each other.
Then, I reminded myself that the last time they hooked up was two years ago, and there was no possible way that Travis could've been the baby's father.
I felt defeated, wondering why I was even doubting Travis.
I loved and trusted him, and I shouldn't have even second guessed him.
"Riley?" Travis' warm breath tickled my bare neck. "What are you thinking about?"
I don't know what overcame me when I asked Travis this very next question.
Maybe I've been thinking to much about this topic, or maybe I'm just merely curious.
My fists tightened, as I rolled over, staring Travis right in the eye.
"Was she good, Travis?" I whispered, hardly recognizing my jealous tone.
Travis suddenly tensed up, as he sat up, so that I was no longer on his lap.
He stared at me with wide eyes full of disbelief. "What?"
"Was Scarlet good?" I repeated. "In bed?"
Travis blinked, before scoffing. "Riley, are you really asking me this?"
I frowned, before nodding obnoxiously. "Yes!" I snapped. "Answer my question."
I knew it was a mistake asking Travis about this question in the first place, but I just couldn't contain myself.
It was as if I blurted it out suddenly out of curiousity.
"No." Travis strenly said, looking angry all the sudden. "I'm not answering your question, because quite frankly, it's a very stupid one."
I glared at him, crossing my arms. "Why won't you just admit that you liked your time in bed with Scarlet?"
Travis tightened his jaw, before standing up. "You're too worked up right now, Riley." he muttered, shaking his head. "I think you should go home."
I knew I was going to regret the second I stepped out of his house.
I knew I was going to regret not apologizing to Travis.
And when I left his house, after taking the very first step, I did.
    I felt complete regret.

    Chapter 34
Dylan's words kept playing in the back of my mind as I exited the school later that afternoon.
    You should talk to him.
A fit of cold shivers went sending down my spine, as I briefly closed my eyes.
Travis finally came to school for the first time today in the past week.
I gave him a short glance, but quickly looked away before he caught my gaze.
But, in that split second when my eyes flashed over to his, I noticed that he didn't look too well.
His hair was messier than usual, his face was pale and hollow, and there were dark, purple circles forming under his eyes.
My heart also sank when I saw that his shirt was wrinkled by the collar, and there was a little smudge of lipstick by his neck.
Throughout the entire day, I couldn't help but wonder if he had forgotten about me already.
I didn't want to think about it, but I knew that there was a possibility that Lola and Scarlet could've been right.
Travis was only playing with me- and threw me out because he got bored.
I gulped down the tears that threatened to spill from my eyes, as I continued walking home.
On my way home, I always passed by our neighborhood park.
In that park was the very bench that Travis and I used to sit at during late nights, and talk about anything; just anything.
I couldn't even stop myself before I realized that I was walking towards the empty bench.
My fingers trailed along the old, dry wood before I took a seat.
For the first time in days, just sitting alone on that bench, I felt tired.
My eyes began to slowly drift off, as I found myself falling asleep.
    ***
I was awakened by an awful smell.
The smoke was filling in my nose, making my eyes snap open immediately.
I looked around, noticing that the sky had gotten dark already, meaning that I had to be asleep for at least a good two hours.
I suddenly looked over to my side, jolting up as I watched Travis calmly take a drag out of his cigarette.
He glanced over at me, raising an eyebrow. "Didn't anyone ever tell you not to sleep on park benches, alone?"
I blinked at him surprisingly, before he tossed his cigarette on the concrete, rubbing it out with the sole of his boot.
I watched as he reached his pocket to light up another one.
Just as Travis was about to flick on his lighter, he stared at me carefully.
"Have you been sleeping?" he asked.
I glared at him, hating him for being so calm and collected.
"That doesn't matter." my voice was croaky from just waking up.
I noticed how Travis glanced over at me as I spoke, before gulping.
"Give me a cigarette." I demanded, holding my hand out.
I didn't know what I was doing- maybe I just wanted to prove something to Traivs.
Part of me wanted him to say no, but the other part of me wanted to forget it all.
Travis stared at me blankly, before letting out of puff of smoke.
"Here." he said, tossing me the entire packet. "Have fun."

    Chapter 35
I stared at Travis with disbelief, as he slapped his pack of cigarettes down onto my palm.
My lips parted, as I blinked unconsciously at the rectangular box that just fit in my hands.
Travis looked away from me, before blowing out another gust of smoke.
My heart was slowly sinking, as I felt myself holding in my breath.
Did Travis honestly not care if took a smoke or not?
After all this time I spent trying to convince Travis to cut off on the nicotine, he was actually going to let me take one myself?
My blood began to boil, as I glared at Travis.
I hastily went over to rip the cover off of the pack of cigarettes, as I shoved one in my mouth.
It hasn't even been lit yet, and I hated the taste of it already.
    "Lighter." I demanded.
Travis gave me a short glance, before letting out a deep breath of air.
He reached into his pocket, taking out a solid black lighter.
My heart was racing as the lighter was held closer and closer towards me, until it reached the tip of my cigarette.
Travis hesitated, staring me dead in the eye.
I didn't look away, afraid of showing weakness.
"I'm not letting you do this." he sighed, before tossing the lighter off to the ground, sending it flying across the concrete.
With one hard tug, he pulled the cigarette from my mouth, smushing it with his foot.
"Is there something wrong with you?" he asked, his breath smelling of heavy smoke. "Why the hell in the right mind would you even consider smoking?"
I glared at him, pushing his shoulder back so that he would back away from me.
"Shut up, Travis." I hissed. "You should've let me had that one cigarette. I mean, it wouldn't kill me, would it?" I snapped, repeating the same words he used towards me weeks ago.
Travis stared at me, long and hard.
I saw his green orbs soften for just a short second, before they snapped back to being harsh and cold.
"Riley, I care about you, that's all." he said lowly, sending shivers down my spine.
I closed my eyes, pushing myself off the bench.
I stared at him one last time with teary eyes, before shaking my head with a weak smile.
"No, Travis." I whispered in a croaky tone. "You don't get to care about me."
Before I got to see the reaction that Travis had, I turned my back on him.
As my arms trembled by my sides, I walked away from him.
    One, two, three, four, fiv-
A strong force pulled me backwards, as I felt my lips being pressed against Travis'.
I didn't have to open my eyes to see who it was; I could tell by the smokey mint scent that Travis always had on him.
His soft and warm lips morphed against mine, as he kissed me with need.
I didn't know what to do but to kiss him back and wrap my arms around him, as he pulled my closer to his chest.

    Chapter 36
"So, do we hold hands or something?" I asked Travis nervously, as we snuggled up against each other in his bed later that night.
Travis smirked, as his fingers played with the ending tips of my brown locks.
"Well, truth be told, I'd rather makeout." he chuckled teasingly, earning a murderous glare from me. "But, holding hands sound nice, too."
I rolled my eyes, slapping my palm against his, before gently releasing my fingers around his.
"You should get neither for being so picky." I snapped jokingly. "But, you're lucky that I don't hate you."
Travis smiled, biting his lower lip teasingly.
My eyes immediately shifted down towards his rosy red lips, as I had the sudden urge to press my lips against his.
I looked away, as I felt my cheeks turning warm by just thinking about how attractive he looked at this moment.
"So, does that mean you like me?" Travis whispered, his hot breath tickling the edge of my ear.
I narrowed my eyes at him, but I couldn't help but crack a small smile.
Everything about Travis made me unreasonably happy- and it was driving me insane.
"I never said I like you." I scoffed.
Travis let out a snort, before wrapping his arms around my waist tightly.
"Right, you don't need to say anything, Riley." he whispered, planting a light kiss on my cheek. "I know that you like me without you having to say it."
I got shivers just from being so near him, so I pushed him away from me.
"You're too full of yourself, Travis." I licked my lips, before smiling.
    Scarlet's Point of View
I held up the little white stick in my hands, staring at the blue plus sign with disbelief.
I wasn't crying yet, but I knew I was about to burst into uncontrollable tears in any second.
    I was pregnant.
"So, what is it?" Lola asked impatiently, knocking from outside of my bathroom door. "Are you knocked up or not?"
The first tear finally slipped from my eyes, but that was not the last one.
My cheeks turned red in a matter of seconds, matching the color of my bloodshot eyes.
I slowly opened the door, as it creeked open.
Lola was leaning against the door frame, crossing her arms.
When she saw my tear-stained cheeks, her mouth dropped open.
"No way." she muttered, before laughing obnoxiously. "You're pregnant! I have to tell everyone about this!"
My eyes widened, as I slapped Lola's phone away from her hands.
It fell on the floor, but it didn't break.
"What the hell, Scarlet?" she hissed, glaring at me. "You could've broken it!"
"You can't tell anyone that I'm pregnant!" I begged.
Lola held my gaze, before she snickered.
"Of course not, Scar. Why would I ever?" she asked sweetly. "I am your best friend, right?"
I nodded, before giving her a weak smile.
    "Right."
I'm not sure if I'm updating on Monday or Tuesday, but in advance, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!
I love you all to bits and pieces.

    Chapter 25
My hands were literally trembling, as I fumbled to punch the keys on my phone.
When I finally found Aiden's name in my contact list, I hit the green call button.
A few rings later, Aiden picked up.
"Arden!" he said cheerily. "What's up?"
I felt a tear slip from my eye, trailing down my cheek.
"A-Aiden," I paused, voice shaking, "I need you to come get me."
After I ran out of Evan's house, I took myself where ever my legs led me.
Turns out, I ended up running to the other side of the town, where it was barely populated.
I was surrounded by a forest of trees, and since the sun was setting, it was getting extremely cold and dark.
"Wait, what?" Aiden asked, voice alerted.
"Please come get me." I croaked, clutching my phone tightly. "Please."
"Arden, stop talking so fast." Aiden paused.
I let out a deep breath of air, trying to calm myself down.
    "What happened?" he asked.
I began to break down, as I fell onto my knees.
"Evan was only using me this whole time." my voice broke.
My heart ache just saying it.
Aiden didn't say anything for a while, as I heard him take in a sharp in take of air.
"He finally told you about Hollis?"
My eyes snapped open wide, as my blood began to boil.
"Y-You knew?" I laughed bitterly, not believing my own voice. "You knew this whole time?!"
    "Arden, it's not what-"
"You two are exactly the same." I hissed.
I hung up on him, as I clenched my fists by my sides angrily.
    Everyone lied to me.
    Why me?
Out of all people, why did I have to be the one who suffered?
I called the one last person I had hope it.
My one and only best friend, Lacey.
"Lacey?" I spoke through the phone.
"Arden? What's wrong?" she asked worriedly.
She could already sense that something was wrong by the tone of my voice.
"I'll explain later, but can you please come get me?" I asked, voice cracking.
"I'm already in my car!" Lacey said, putting me on speaker. "Where are you?"
I stared around me, noticing that there was an empty highway with a sign.
    "Near Townsend. Exit 52."
Lacey paused, as I heard the sound of her car starting.
"I'm going to make sure Evan gets it after I get you." she said.

    Chapter 11
"Whose Hollis?" I asked sternly, raising an eyebrow over to Evan.
Evan's face paled, as he gulped.
His eyes shifted over to Paul, as he shot him a glare.
What the hell was going on that I didn't know of?
"Evan." I repeated. "Who is Hollis?"
"H-Hollis..." Evan stuttered. "Hollis was- was the ice cream parlour's mascot dog!"
Evan's boss frowned, turning to him. "She was?"
Evan gave his boss a hard look. "She was."
"Oh!" Paul laughed nervouslly. "I guess she was."
I still didn't believe the two of them.
They had the audacity to lie right in front of my face?
"Evan-" I started off, wanting to confront him.
There was guilt written all over Evan's face.
I suddenly stopped talking, as I bit my lower lip.
Fine, if Evan didn't want to tell me the truth, then he won't.
I'll just have to get it out of his best friend.
    Aiden.
Later that night, I walked over to the music store to see if Aiden was still working there.
When I peered through the transparent glass, I saw Aiden ringing up a purchase by the cashier.
Walking in, I headed towards him.
His eyes widened in surprise, but a grin slipped across his face.
"Arden, what a surprise to see you here." Aiden smiled. "Do you need help with finding anything?"
I cleared my throat, shaking my head.
"I'm not actually here to buy anything." I told him.
His grin became wider. "Don't tell me you came to see me!" he teased.
    I laughed. "I actually did."
He frowned, as his grin fell. "Really? Did something happen?"
I shrugged. "Not something important- to you. But to me."
    "Is Evan involved?" Aiden asked.
I nodded slowly, as Aiden licked his lips. "Okay. Just wait ten minutes so I can close the store up."
I nodded, as I waited outside, where there was a bench in front of the music store.
When Aiden came out, he had his coat on, and was already shivering from the cold weather.
"Do you want to talk over at the coffee shop or freeze to death?" he asked.
    I chuckled, getting up.
We walked over to the coffee shop a block down, and ordered large, caramel lattes.
"So, what is this about my best man?" Aiden asked jokingly.
I smiled. "Well, do you know someone named Hollis?"
Aiden's smiled faded, as his face went blank.
"Hollis?" he asked with disbelief. "Evan told you about Hollis?"
