The Right Way #48
I woke with a start when Ryan shook me slightly. His arms were still around me, but there was movement all around us. We had arrived in Mexico.
"I fell asleep?" I asked.
"Yeah, about 10 minutes into the flight. You slept the whole time." He smiled.
"Wow, usually I hate flying. Weird," I said as I slowly got up and stretched. He did the same and I picked my carry-on bag up from the ground. We got into the aisle and made our way out of the plane. It was a slow line, but we finally made it.
We entered the terminal and headed to the baggage claim area downstairs. Ryan went to find a bathroom, so I waited by the carousel for the luggage to come out. I was in charge of our bags. My mom was a little way down, talking with Rob, her husband. Still hate him. Still don't want them here.
In the other direction, there was a guy, my age, that kept looking at me. He was smiling at me, and I could see he was cute. Taller than me, blonde hair, green eyes, tan. I just looked away, because that was awkward. Cute, but not my type.
I saw my suitcase coming down the strip, so I stepped forward to grab it. I placed my hand on the handle and heaved it up and off the carousel. I placed it down and looked back for Ryan's. His was coming, but now the guy was coming over to talk to me.
"Need help?" He asked.
I just shook my head and kept looking straight at Ryan's approaching bag. He still wasn't back yet, but I wished he would hurry up. This was too creepy for me.
I stepped a little to the side, and he mirrored my actions. Okay, way too creepy now. He kept trying to talk to me, but I interrupted. "Sorry, but can you just leave me alone? I'm not interested," I said, getting a little freaked out.
"Aw, come on. I just want to get to know you," I could see he was looking at me in all the wrong places, and I turned to him, suddenly very angry.
He was still looking at my legs, and I snapped my fingers in front of his eyes. "Hey, my eyes are up here, not down here. I said, leave me alone. Now, go. Please. I am not interested in a creep like you," I finished hotly as I took a step forward. He caught my arm and I could see he was angry now.
"Not so fast, beautiful. No one says no to me."
"I believe she said for you to leave," Ryan interrupted us. He placed his hands square on the guy's chest and shoved. Hard. The guy stumbled backward but caught his balance.
"And who are you?" He asked angrily.
"Many things. But for now, I'm your worst enemy. Leave, now. Or I will call security."
The guy turned and walked away, but not before winking at me. He joined his totally oblivious parents, and then I turned to him. He had fire in his eyes, and I needed to distract him.
"Um, I think I missed your bag." He cracked a small smile and I stepped forward into his chest. He wrapped his arms around me and I squeezed him tight. "You know I would never be interested in him, right?" I could feel him nod and I smiled.
