Darby: Chapter Three, Part 2/5
I watched in horror, anger, and betrayal as the video played on. Each of our secrets being exposed to the group, one by one. Except Farrah. Funny, it seems that Farrah's always the odd one out in these weird occurrences, isn't it?
The video cut short, going straight to a blue screen, as the sound of the rain hitting my window filled the silence between all of us. "I promise I won't tell your secrets. We're best friends forever." Farrah finally said, breaking the cycle.
I narrowed my eyes at her, but only for a split second, as my phone rang. I felt my nerves calm, thinking it was probably just Liam and his friends playing one of their stupid tricks. But then again, why would he want to expose our secret? And make up these fake ones about the girls? If they are fake. I have no idea, for all I know, they could be true.
Like the show? That's only the beginning. A text said, coming from an unknown caller. I bit my bottom lip and looked around, hoping the girls had the same reaction as I did. Maybe then I'd feel at peace. To my luck, all the girls were just staring at the television, awestruck.
"I'm going to go get some fresh air guys, I'll be right back." I said, dialing Liam's number as I scurried out of my room, then my house. "Liam," I whispered into the phone, once making sure nobody was around. Especially my sister.
"What's up, beautiful?" he asked, making my face flush. It was as if he was right behind me, saying those words down my neck. I could almost feel his breath, warm on my skin.
"End that stupid prank or I'll beat you so hard you'll throw up your intestines!" I whisper shouted, enraged. How could he play such a dumb prank, scaring us half to death!?
"Darb, I have no idea what you're talking about. I'm driving home from football now." he said as I heard him honk his horn,
followed by some guy cursing loudly. Well if it wasn't Liam, who was it?
I felt my kneecaps hit together as chills came over me. For an early September night, it was pretty chilly. Maybe that, or the fact that somebody found out the one secret I've tried so hard to keep hush. What if the school finds out? Or my family?
I felt my eyes well up at the thought of my sister hating me. We shared everything with each other, she'd never trust me again. My entire relationship with her would be crushed all together.
"Sh*t, you're crying," Liam mumbled, reminding me we were talking, "I'm turning down your street now." Before I could even object, he hung up.
Not even five minutes later was he pulling up, running out of his car, and embracing me into a hug. "What happened?" he mumbled into my hair as I sobbed into his chest.
I looked up, and bit down on my bottom lip again. "Somebody knows." Liam opened his mouth to reply, when my front door opened and Farrah came out, half smiling at me.
"Darby, the t.v.'s worki-I didn't know Liam was joining us!" she squealed, leaning on the door frame and waved sweetly.
"I need to shower, I'll talk to you later." Liam murmured, then walked back to his car. I took once look at him, then Farrah evil grin.
There's definitely something up with her. I want to get to the bottom of it.
