The Unforgettable Summer
"I can't wait to go to myrtle beach." I smiled and looked over at my friend John. His dirty blonde hair reminded me of the haircut that marines have, perfect white teeth smiled back at me.
"I know, I still can't believe our parents are letting us go." I reached under my bed to grab my blue suitcase.
My three best friends John, Adam, Jen and I were going to John summer house in myrtle beach for a month. We had just started our summer a week ago and everything was already starting the way it was suppose to. I had always had a crush on John for as long as I could remember. We had been best friends since third grade and at the time I could never see him as more than friend but it just seemed like this would be the perfect time to tell him.
"John!" My little brother Andrew yelled climbing next to John on my bed. Andrew looked up to John like he was the best thing in the world.
"Hey little buddy."
I walked over to my closet trying to decide what to bring. I could hear Andrew telling about him new latest intrest, building things out of legos. I loved that I was able to have the smaller room but with a larger closet then my parents. I had so much clothing and I always seemed to be giving away clothing but it never looked like I actually did give away anything.
"Can I talk for you a second?" John asked coming up behind me. I looked over at the bed where Andrew had been sitting but he was gone. I hadn't even heard go out.
"Sure." I wasn't sure if what he wanted to tell me was good or bad. His expression was unreadable.
"I don't know how to say this but I might as well just get it over with. I'm gay." John looked kept looking at me but I was beyond shocked. How did he keep this secret from me for who knows how long. I thought just maybe he was telling me that he liked me. But this is what really started my summer.
