   He's great, but he's not that great.
   Some people probably think he's arrogant and pretentious, and even though I might not go as far as to say that, I totally see where those people would get those views from. Yeah, he's brilliant, but at the end of the day, it's mostly just that he's good at fluffing himself up. He's smart, but life's supposed to be about much more than just that. And he's always been this way. Kind of sucks because I'm one of the only ones who's like, "He's just good at the game," while most everyone else is like, "Woah, what a prodigy!" He isn't bad. But he isn't that great, either.

    You told me that I'm not difficult to talk to - that I'm actually quite the opposite. But let's be honest here. Perhaps that's not enough to make it in this world. Because hey, sure, I'm not boring - but apparently I'm not the most compelling person, either. Because again, hey, you can say that I'm interesting, but not once have I seen you running to come talk to me. I'm always the one reaching out, always the one starting the chats. It's actually come down to the point where you're questioning why I like talking to you so much, why I want to chat with you so badly. Why? Maybe it's because you're actually pretty interesting. You seem pretty cool, you seem like a nice guy, you seem like you'd make a good friend. Yeah, there would be considerable challenges here, since we go to different schools and whatnot, and since we're both so busy with our lives, our work... but I'd be willing to put in the effort if you would as well. Except that I'm not seeing much coming from your part. Why? Maybe it's because you can say that you like talking to me, but I can prove to you that you're worth it.
    Or so I thought.

    When I think about it,
    I'd probably rather spend my Fourth of July this year with my friends than I would with a guy. I mean, yeah, sure, kissing a boy under fireworks could be pretty nice, but when I really think about it I have tons of years of that to look forward to in the future. Right now us girls can spend July 4th chilling with our friends, without having any kids or husband (and for most of us, no boyfriend, either) to worry about. Yeah, we could hold BBQs when we're older and invite the neighbors, but it's just not the same, you know? Kisses are kisses, but being a carefree teenager is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in itself. ♥ ♥
