Forever and ever
She isn’t exactly your average girl,
Usually lets her emotions unfurl,
Quirky and crazy, and not what she seems
She comes from a small town, but she has big city dreams.
The jock of the school, perfect to say the least,
Honest and fair, and a lover of peace.
He can dance, play baseball, shoot hoops and all
Got two feet on the ground, he won’t ever fall.
One day in the hall, they stand side by side,
They don’t notice each other, but soon their worlds collide.
They’re both walkin’ down without a care,
Then a remarkable event happens there.
Clumsy like she is, she trips on a lace
Flies through the air, and falls through space.
Good thing he was there at the scene of the crime,
He catches her just in the nick of time.
Embarrassed and blushing she looks at his eyes,
Never has she seen anything so gentle and wise.
He can’t help but stare at her pink rosy cheeks,
And her smile so curious, and content, and meek.
From there came the picnics and sitting under the stars,
He promised her forever, and said “the world is ours”
Not a doubt in her mind, she knew it was true,
That forever and ever was a promise he would pursue.
When graduation came, they didn’t’ know how they’d go on
She was traveling to Italy, he was point guard for UConn
The pain was unbearable, for the boy and the girl,
They finally realized it was no longer their world.
They both went their own way, other loves came,
But both of them knew, those loves just weren’t the same.
Many years later, he proved it was true
That the promise he made, he indeed would pursue.
He came to her door with a ring in hand,
Hoping that she would understand.
He asked her to marry him, and what did she say?
“I knew you would come back for me one day”
In about a year she was walking down the isle
With a white dress, veil, and a meek little smile.
At the altar he stood, ready to pull through whatever,
Because he had promised her, forever and ever
