*Your mom left, I don’t know why.
-She had to work dad. She left before I did.
*No, She is gone. There was a note on the table and she said was sorry and that she loves us both no matter what.
-Don’t worry, Dad. She’ll be back.
*I hope so, Mariah. I hope so.
~I was really upset, but no way would I let my dad see that. Right away I called Ethan. I couldn’t wait to talk to him now. I had too many thoughts to keep in my head..~
“Hello?”
-Ethan, I want to cry.
“Ri, babe. What’s going on? Do you need me to come over?”
-Could you? I want to be in your arms right now..
“I’ll be there in like, 15 minutes. Okay?”
~ I said okay and hung up the phone. Why did my mom leave? Was she really going to come back? I can’t take it. I just laid my head in my pillow and closed my eyes trying to relax. I felt cool hands move my hair and tap my shoulder. It was Ethan.~
-Ethan, I can’t, I don’t, I. I. I..(I just started crying and he sat down on my bed and pulled me tightly to his Chest.)
“Ri, It’s going to be okay. You don’t have to say anything. I’m right here for you.”(He kept pushing my bangs to the side and wiped my tears from my eyes.)
-I love you Ethan.(I whispered and kissed his cheek.) My mom left.
“I’m so sorry, Ri. What can I do for you? I need you to smile.”
-Just stay here. Close to me. I need someone with me who actually cares to be here.
“Okay, Mariah. I’m right here. I promise to you, I won’t leave until you tell me too.”
-Thank you Ethan, I would be so lost without you it’s not even funny.
“Mariah, I’ll always be here. I promise you.”
~I started to get teary eyed again and Ethan wiped them away keeping me close to him. I looked at my phone, no messages or calls. It was like, 10 something and I was beat. Thank God we didn’t have school tomorrow. I wasn’t ready. I drifted to sleep soon.~
“Ri, babe girl. You up?”
-Mhm, Yeah. (I mumbled.)
“It’s 11 In the morning, your dad wants you downstairs for a minute.”
-Oh, Okay. (I slowly got up and Ethan kissed me good morning. I put on some sweats and an East Wills choir shirt with my slippers and went down to find my dad.)
-Dad, where are you?
*In the living room, Mariah. (I dragged my feet to go where he was.)
*You feelin’ okay pumpkin?
-I guess so. Just really confused.
*I know. You remember a month or so ago when I said I had to leave for that business trip?
-Yeah, it’s like, in a week.
*Yeah, are you okay here by yourself? I don’t want to leave you if you’re not.
-Daddy, I’m 16 not 10. I don’t need you all the time, silly.
*Okay, you’re right. Ethan is welcome to stay for the two weeks and I’m going to leave you extra money and stuff.
-Okay Dad. But, I’m going to go back up stairs and relax with Ethan if you don’t mind.
*That’s fine. If I don’t see you after this, have a good day.
-I’ll try. (I gave him a hug and went upstairs to return to Ethan who was on the phone.)
