"That will be $4.29," the bored-looking cashier said.
I tipped out all the change from my Hello Kitty coin purse, ignoring her sigh.
"Do you not have cash, miss?" I shrugged and began counting four dollars and 29 cents.
"Eurgh, whatever. I'll just ring up the next customer..."
I nodded, "Suit yourself."
As Miss Attitude rang up the next customer, I glanced at her next victim, then felt myself blush immensely. Throwing the change on the counter, I grabbed my box of pads and hurried off.
The cause of my quick departure quickly caught up. "Excuse me?" I turned around and almost let out a yelp, "OH! Um, hi!"
The handsome reason for me jumping, smiled and held out his hand, "Haha, you forgot your change, that's all!" I stared into his palm and quickly snatched the loonie. "Thank you! I seriously thought I paid the exact change, but..." "No problem. I'm Josh by the way."
I nodded, "I'm Summer and you can catch me at Myzra Bakery." Silently kicking myself for sounding like a dork, I mustered a smile.
"Cool," said Josh, as he checked his phone, "Well, I gotta go, but catch you later!"
I went to wave, trying to look as nonchalant as possible. The box of pads, unfortunately, did not seem to want to co-operate. Bouncing off my foot, I felt myself redden up for the 50th time in the past half hour. Scooping up the box, I stalked off, with one final glance at Josh. He had a half-smile as he watched me leave. His golden brown hair glistened, and I felt myself melting, oblivious to the fact that he was a complete stranger.
