I love looking at the sky.
I love how it's never the same.
Sometimes it's perfectly clear; crystal blue.
Sometimes it's pitch black, sparkling with millions of tiny stars.
Sometimes it's painted with purples and pinks and oranges.
    It's lovely.

someone once told me to always
    live for the little things
    in life.
live for 5am sunrises and 5pm sunsets
where you'll see coloirs in the sky that
    don't usually belong.
live for road trips and bike rides
with music in your ears and
    the wind in your hair.
live for days when you're surrounded
by your favorite people who make you realise
that the world is not a
    cold, harsh place.
live for the little things because
they will make you realise that
this is what life is about.
    not mine

An old man was going for a walk, when he noticed a little boy feeding a thin, shaggy looking dog with bits of bread.
He went up to the boy and asked him why he was sharing his bread with the dogs.
The little boy answered, "Because they have nothing. No home, no family, and if I don’t feed them they will die."
“But there are homeless dogs everywhere," the old man replied. “So your efforts don’t really make a difference”
The little boy looked at the dog and stroked him. “But for this little dog, it makes all the difference in the world.”
    This gives me hope.

How can you say the world is such an ugly place?
There is so much that still needs to be seen.
Watch the sun set on the horizon, disappearing behind the ocean waves.
See the millions of tiny stars shining with the Northern Lights.
Look as the rain clears and a rainbow forms.
Stands in the shadows of the impossibly tall trees in the Amazon.
Listen to the whales singing their mornful songs.
Watch an Eagle spread its wings and try to fly for the first time.
The world is so huge and vast.
There are so many beautiful and wonderful sights.
How can you say the world is such an ugly place?

I could search the world. I could look through every dictionary. I could learn every language. But I don't think that any one word could describe how you make me feel.

I think that's the amazing part about really getting to know someone. Not just knowing their name and favorite color and what TV shows they like. Not like that. I mean getting to know someone much deeper than that. Finding out if they prefer books to movies, or if they like their coffee black or boston style. Learning where all those little scars on their hands came from and how they mispronounce certain words. Knowing the kind of things they laugh at and the songs they listen to all the time but never get tired of. Noticing how they say "snazzy" instead of just saying "cool". All those little things you wouldn't notice unless you knew them well.

The number of the scale doesn't matter. The amount of acne you get has no meaning. The clothes you wear and the car you drive are of no importance. Where you come from doesn't matter either.
What does matter is the things that make you smile. Your favorite songs and if you move your lips when you read or not. What time in the day you get up and what books you love. Whether you put up paintings or posters or pictures on your wall. Your favorite color, and if you like marshmallows or whip cream or both in your hot chocolate. What matters is where you are going, and I'd like to go there too...

And I sit here, trying to come up with the right words to say. Words that will inspire. Words that will stick with people for prolonged periods of time. Words that, if used just right, will make a scene in a book feel tangible. Words that paint breathtaking pictures. Because why use words like sad, nice, good, bad, or happy, when you could use words like jovial, exquisite, melancholy, morose, profound, resonant, or impassioned.

The smell of old, yellowing pages.
Rows upon rows, shelves upon shelves,
Stacked so high that the top cannot be seen.
Thousands of worlds waiting to be discovered.
Hundreds of thousands of pages waiting to be turned.
Millions of little words just waiting to be read.
Black ink, white paper, bounded in leather.
They are simply an escape, an adventure.
All you need to do is pick one and read.

My boyfriend and I were playing a game...
One of the questions was "Would you rather be the smartest person earth but the ugliest, or be the dumbest person but the hottest?"
    Him: hmm...this is hard!
Him: would you still love me if I said smartest?
    Me: yes
Him: but that would mean I'd be the ugliest too...
    Me: So?
    Him: :D

    Words.
    We surround ourselves with words.
We spend our lives learning thousands upon thousands of words.
These words are how we define ourselves
    Words.
From the name a mother gives to her son.
To how we describe the color of the sky at sunset.
How we speak of other people.
How singers stop people in their tracks.
How writers bring people to tears.
How leaders can put an entire country on the edge of their seats.
    Words.
    Always words.
    They last an eternity.
Spoken in different tongues and unique accents.
    They are universal,
translated for all to hear their message.
    Words.
    Have started revolutions.
    Have changed history.
Have brought tears to peoples' eyes,
    And smiles to their faces.
    Words.
Billions of trillions have been spoken.
Some forgotten like a small breeze on a fall evening.
Some carved into stone like a scar upon your skin.
    Some last for moments.
Some last for all of eternity.
    Words.
    So many words.

They sat watching TV, his arm around her.
A commercial for Disney started playing...
    "Disney, where dreams come true."
He looked at her, "Did your dream come true?"
He said it with a hint of amusement in his voice.
    "Yes" she said simply.
He tilted his head slightly, "And what dream was that?"
A smile slowly spread across her lips...
    "You" she whispered.

And there we were, sitting in the park. Your arm around me. My head resting on your shoulder. The clouds rolled in overhead and the rain started slowly falling; barely noticeable at first. "Is it raining?" you said. "Hm..Yeah it is." I said looking up at the sky, a slight smile spreading across my face. And slowly I leaned in and kissed you, and for a moment all the world disappeared. It was just you and I. That moment was perfect.

There's an old dusty photo that sits in a drawer in my room. The frame is bright and colorful. The picture inside is old and slightly faded. The two people in the picture are happy and smiling. The woman is cought in mid-laugh. There is a birthday cake in the corner; the man is taking a peice of it. He is happy too. Me? I am not in this picture; it was taken so long ago. The man and woman were married when this picture was taken. This photo used to sit in my room, proudly displayed. But now it is put away and forgotten. It has collected layers upon layers of dust. Oh how things have changed since this old photo was taken.

I've been on witty for over a year now.
I usually get about 5 faves on my quotes.
sometimes I get 1, or none.
But I still continue to write them.
And eventhough Witty has been kind of dead lately,
I still come on here almost everyday.
Because I just need a place
where I can say what's on my mind.
Because I can't say most of these things on Facebook
    or Twitter
    or Tumblr
    or to most friends
    Because Witty is special;
on Witty, you can what's truley on your mind
    And not get judged.
    Witty is special.
