Chapter 1
Ella:
"Latest disappearance is victim Stella Bea. Age of 16, kidnapper is still unknown. In the last 3 weeks 4 girls have been taken, all at night. Police are investigating and tracking down the suspect, but no true answer to of who the criminal is has been found--"
I got up and turned off the television, shakily, before the reporter on the local news could say anymore.
"They still don't know who's doing all this?" My dad stepped into the living room, after listening to the news from the kitchen. I got up and ran my hand through my hair and shook my head. I'd been more than paranoid for the last month. Muggings and assaults usually happened where I lived so I was used to criminal activity going on but since all 4 girls who had dissapeared had been around my age, I was beyond freaked out that possibly I could be next.
"It's okay, Ella." My dad said coming closer and starting a small lecture about how I need to be careful any time, night or day, and to carry pepper spray around and all that stuff that was supposed to keep me safe.
"I'm not scared, Dad." I lied in a whiff and attempted to put on a brave face.
"I'm just saying, be prepared for anything at all times." He said totally not believing my act. I looked down, bit my lip, then walked off to my room, saying no more to my father.
The first dissapearance, was what had scared me the most, well it had scared everyone ofcourse...The first girl taken was a girl in my school and age group, Chelsea Franco. Very beautiful, tall, blonde hair and totally a target for a rapist looking for fun.. No traces of her whereabouts had been discovered yet, and her family was torn apart. The kidnapper was really clever. The police men were really fooled. They really had no idea whatsoever of who it was, that had the whole town in shakes.
In my room I stood by my dresser leaning down for a second, taking this all in. My long brown hair was down to right above my bottom, and my hazel eyes were looking down. I wasn't very tall, nor very short. 5'8" actually and at an age of 17.
Behind my back, I heard others say I was the perfect target that could go next.
"Ella Wickord," I had heard a woman say once at the cafe that I worked in, her having no idea I was eavesdropping. She had been talking to her husband and from the corner of my eye I could see them shoot glances my way. "That girl...Look at her..Beautiful..Tall..Perfect body..No bad records...I have a feeling she'll be the next one taken."
That was a load of bullsh/t.
Bullsh/t that got me nervous.
