Mr. Ray returned with more of my favorite movies such as the Parent Trap, Major Payne, and A Cinderella Story.
"Man, I could you used to this!" I joked
"Well, don't!" Matt said as he finished cooking my dinner
We all laughed
"How's the foot feeling Briar?" Mr. Ray asked
"Better I guess," I replied.
"So, even before you broke your foot we sat around the house quite a bit.. So I was thinking maybe we could go out to dinner tomorrow night?" Michael asked
"Sounds good!" I replied
Honestly, it should be nice to get out of the house.
"YAY! GOING OUT TO EAT!" Matt screamed
"Uhh, sorry. I think I want just Briar and me to go.." Michael said
"ROMAANCE!" Mr. Ray butt in
That made us all laugh.
"Oh yeah, Briar I was thinking maybe your friends could come over some time? I really don't think it's good for you to hangout with just our family all the time," Mr. Ray continued.
"I never really thought of that," I admitted.
"Sure, I'll call some people tomorrow to help me get ready for dinner?"
"Sounds good, I'll go to Chad's his cousin's up too so that'll be nice to visit him!" Michael said.
Sorry, super short & boring. I know there's usually a twist in the romance in witty stories so what do you guys think? Stay with Michael? Or a new found lover? I love my readers <3

Chapter 11

We watched movies all day; The Notebook, Titanic, Dirty Dancing, and a bunch more! Mr. Ray had left to do some business in his office. Michael and I eventually fell asleep together on the couch for a few hours. We heard the fire alarm go off and completely freaked out! We looked to see the source of the fire and realized it was Matt holding a match up to the fire alarm.
"MATTHEW JOSEPH RAY" Michael yelled
Matt started running down the hall and Michael and I chased him. We seemed pretty childish but it was fun!...
Until I tripped over the chair leg.
"Briar, you are so clumsy! Let me call dad and if he's busy then Chad can probably drive us to the E.R," Michael said
I was extremely embarassed causing this trouble and sure enough Mr. Ray was stuck with work so Chad had to drive us to the E.R. Matt came because he said he'd be bored at the house anyway.
It didn't take Chad long to get there and Michael just carried me in.
"She tripped and now she can't walk." Michael explained
"Well her foot looks pretty swollen, I guess we can take her in," the nurse said with a wink. It wasn't until then that I realized I knew her. It was the nurse that took care of me while my parents were in the hospital.
After a few X-Rays and scans they came to the conclusion that I broke my foot so I'd be on crutches.
"GREAT!" I sighed
"What's wrong?" Michael asked
"Well I've been so much trouble for your family already and now this, plus I will suck at using crutches!"
"No worries, we love you! Plus I can help you!" Michael said as he picked me up from the hospital bed.
He brought me to Chad's vehicle and went back in to pay the bill and get a pair of crutches.
Once we got home Matt laughed at me trying to get out of the car, but surprisingly CHAD picked me up and handed me to Michael.
"Dang Briar, you're lighter than I thought." Chad joked
"You saying you thought I was heavy?"
"No, I just didn't think you weighed nothing."
"93 lbs. thank you very much!"
"Well I better get going. See you guys next time you need a ride!" He stuck out his tongue as he drove away.
Sorry, extremely boring. I know there's usually a twist in the romance in witty stories so what do you guys think? Stay with Michael? Or a new found lover? I love my readers <3

When I woke up the next morning I woke up with the bed to myself. I started freaking out and ran to the living room to find Michael on the couch with his dad.
I let out a sigh of relief.
"Hey Briar, thanks for taking care of him." Mr. Ray said
"No problem, he's been here for me too."
I hear a yawn and foot steps coming down the hall.
"Hey Matt," I said
"Mornin', so are you like.. living with us now?"
"I don't know. I sent the papers in and I need to get the legal stuff to live with you.."
"GOOD NEWS! I got them in this morning!" Mr. Ray explained
"NOOOO!" Matt screamed
At that Michael woke up.
"Good morning beautiful," he said
I smiled, "I get to live with you guys now!"
He ran over and hugged me tightly.
"We'll have to paint the guest room for you!"
"That sounds fun", I smiled again
"Well today we'll have an actual movie day without any interuptions."
"That sounds nice!"
"WHAT AM I GOING TO DO?!" Matt screamed
"Uh, I guess you can watch movies with us." Michael said
"We should make him watch the Notebook!" I got excited, I loved watching guys try to be nice while watching the Notebook but knowing Matt he'll speak his mind & that'll be even better.
"Suuure.." Matt replied reluctantly
"My favorite movie!" Michael joked
"Let's get this par-taaay started!" Mr. Ray spoke up, making us all laugh.

There were a few non-drinking girls I knew at the party even though they went to De Pere with Michael and Matt. We chatted for a while, but when they brought up why I was living with the Ray's I excused myself and went in the direction Michael went in. By this time it was fairly dark out and I didn't really know this part of the neighborhood.
BANG!
I heard a gunshot. I sprinted in the direction praying that it wasn't Michael.
I saw a shadowy figure running away with a gun and one standing above the lifeless figure laying on the forest floor.
I spotted the name "RAY" printed on the back of the standing figure and ran towards him.
It was definitely Michael and he was sobbing.
I sat him down and tried to comfort him like he comforted me but I still didn't know who died.
I decided to lead Michael out of the woods and ask who it was.
"He was a good friend, Justin Forchini. Always there when I needed to complain. We drifted apart a few years ago after my mom left my family. The day after my mom left I was pretty upset and needed someone to talk to so I went over to his house to complain when I walked in I saw him with a black eye, and the man standing next to him had bloody knuckles. I later learned this was his father and he was abusive. It was when Justin called that I decided I needed to come to this bon fire. He said his dad was in town and coming to get him."
I nodded and brought him over to Chad to call the cops. When the cops arrived they said they didn't have proof it was his father and they couldn't put him in prison.
They called Justin's aunt to see about the funeral and such and after everything was taken care of Michael & I went home.
He asked if I'd sleep with him so I did.
Sleeping with Michael wasn't like "sleeping" with other guys. We cuddled, comforted eachother and slept. Nothing else to it.
Michael kicked and screamed during the night but I didn't want to wake him and scare him more that he had already been.
He had witnessed a murder.

We both decided to just get something small to go so we could make our way back to the house to spend the day alone. The two of us got a lemon poppyseed muffin to share because it was our favorite and a gallon of orange juice to drink once we got home. We couldn't really walk hand in hand because Michael carried the stuff so I just walked with my arm wrapped around his. It didn't take us long to finish the muffin and have a glass of juice so then we settled down to watch my favorite show; One Tree Hill. It was a soap but he would watch it whenever I wanted to. We had the house to ourselves and we both eventually feel asleep on the couch. When Michael's phone vibrated we both woke up.
Wanna hangout? The guys want you to leave the girl at her house.. 8:30: bon fire at my house be there! - Chad
"I want this day for us, but I need to call him and tell him why I can't." Michael said as he got up, I yawned and waited for him on the couch. As I sat there I started to hear screaming from the bedroom.
"But she means so much to me, I can't lose her. I love her, and I need to prove it!" I heard Michael scream.
I obviously couldn't hear Chad's reply so I went to see what was going on. When I walked in Michael was in tears and told me that we need to go to this bon fire. I changed into jeans but left on Michael's sweatshirt and he changed into his newer sweatshirt and jeans so we basically matcheed. When we got to Chad's everyone glared and I realized there was drinking. Chad came over and told me he didn't drink but he didn't know what to do. Michael stormed off into the woods. And suddenly I was worried for what would happen next.

When I woke up I didn't know how the heck I got there, but I woke up on Michael's bed. I saw a figure rise from the ground, scaring me till I realized it was just Michael.
"You must have had a bad dream or something but when you started screaming my dad thought you'd be more comfortable in here." He explained
I felt my cheeks turn a deep red, "I didn't mean to wake anyone or cause this trouble, I feel terrible!"
"Oh, it was fine. My family loves you so much."
I smiled again, even in a time like this he could make me smile.
"My dad obviously can't cook breakfast since him and Matt already left for the day. We could go somewhere to eat?"
I nodded and exited the room leaving for the guest room. Not even thinking, I put the most comfortable sweats and shirt that I had with a sweatshirt Michael had given me when we first met.
When I met him in the hall I saw that he was dressed nicely and slapped my head in frustration.
"UGH, let me go change and do my hair and makeup!" I said
"No, you look beautiful just the way you are."
And with that he dragged me out the door and we walked to the diner, hand in hand.
"I like your sweatshirt," he said with a wink
I looked up at him and smiled, he gently kissed me on the lips which made me blush.
"You aren't just another girl Briar, you're my bestfriend, my girlfriend and everything I could ask for. So when or if we ever break up, just remember that. I'll feel like this about you forever and I think I love you. Just thought I'd let you know."
Wow, I was shocked but before I got a chance to answer he pulled me into the small diner.

When the doorbell rang I dashed for the door and welcomed in Darius & Trina. I noticed Trina was a bit bigger in size than usual but I didn't say anything because I didn't want her to get upset.
"Hi, I'm afraid we haven't formally met, I'm Trina," she introduced herself to the Ray's.
They replied in a chorus of hello's and hi's. Then Mr. Ray announced that dinner was ready.
We all filed into the dining room which was pretty large considering only the 3 boys (and maybe me now) lived there.
Once we were all seated Mr. Ray said grace, including my parents and family in it. That brought me and my sister into tears but she suddenly spoke up, sounding excited.
"So, as you may be able to tell by the ammount of food on my plate..."
She paused as we all looked at the heap of dinner on her plate.
"And the size of my stomach, that I'm pregnant!"
She passionately kissed Darius as I just sat there, shocked.
"Congrats, sis.. But aren't you only 19? And how are you guys going to afford this?"
"Cool it girl! We'll figure it out!" Trina replied
I was so mad, didn't she ever stop to think that I might need a place to stay? Or did she think I was going to live with my boyfriend for the rest of my life.
"So uh, where am I supposed to live? The house obviously isn't going to just me, and your apartment isn't big enough for me plus the baby?" I raged.
"You know you're welcome to stay with us.." Mr. Ray quietly said
"That sounds great!" Darius and Trina replied
Dinner eventually ended and I nodded Darius and Trina away, back to their apartment with their stupid baby on the way.
"I'm going to bed, Michael. Thanks for everything but I'm so tired!" I said
"Well maybe tomorrow we can do something, or maybe just a movie night here? My dad will be gone with Matt.." He replied.
"Sounds great!" I smiled for the first time in days.

Chad waved goodbye as he pulled out of the Ray's muddy driveway. It was pouring rain which put me in an even worse mood than I was already in. Michael took my hand and led me into the house.
Mr. Ray and even Matt came and greeted me with a warm hug, trying to comfort me, but that just put me into a quiet fit of sobs.
"Can you make it to the shower?" Michael asked
"Yeah," I said
He kissed my forehead and let me go. I took a long, hot shower and let everything go, I thought of my parents death & my brother, and pretty much the rest of my family's death which occured a few years ago when a their plan to California crashed.
When I got out I put on a pair of jean shorts and a cute blue shirt that read Hollister in orange.
When I got out of the bathroom everyone started to talk about the most random things ever, I'm sure it was to try to make me feel normal. I went and took a seat on Michael's lap.
"I'm guessing you probably want to see your sister don't you?" Mr. Ray questioned
I nodded
"Well you can go here, or she can come here. It'd be nice to get to know her & her boyfriend."
I agreed and called her & Darius, giving them directions to the house.

When we pulled into the driveway I thought about where the house would go, it was a nice house & my family just built it a few years ago.
"I'll be right back, you can sit in the living room," I pointed towards the plush new furniture.
I ran up the stairs towards my room, but on my way there I saw my parents bedroom door wide open, their stuff still scattered around the room. I sprinted to my room and broke down crying on my bedroom floor. I didn't even make it to my bed.
I flinched when I felt strong arms around me, then I realized it was just Michael. He picked me up bridal style and put me on my bed. We sat there for what seemed like hours till Chad walked in.
"Man, I got to get going to football," he said
"Alright," Michael agreed
"You can shower at my house, but Igrab the things you need for the next week." he whispered in my ear
I nodded, and we got up. I grabbed a few pairs of jean shorts, and cute shirts then some athletic shorts then I went to my parents room and grabbed a few of my dads shirts.
Mm, they still smelt like him.
Once I got down the stairs I realized how terrible I looked, but I still heard.
"You're beautiful." come out of Michael's mouth.
He came and wrapped his arms around my waist and then we jumped into Chad's truck and rode away.

When I awoke I expected it to be Trina still holding me, but as my eyes flittered open I looked up to Michael.
"When you never called I got worried, then once I got here Trina asked if I'd stay so she could shower and run the errands, I brought you some food & clean clothes though." he explained
To be honest, I was starving. He'd brought a variety of my favorite foods and they were scarfed down withen the hour. The doctor that I'd became close with walked over to us with a look of worry.
"Sweetie, I'm so sorry, but both your parents were suffering, and neither of them made it, since your sister is already moved out you could live with her, or a legal gaurdian of your choice."
Here came the water works, Michael held me tight as I weakly sobbed into his arms. I didn't feel like thinking about who I'd wanted to live with.
Once I'd woken up for the second time in Micahel's arms I realized another boy was with him, he was tall and look a few years older than me.
"I'm Chad, Michael's friend." he introduced himself
"Hi." I said sleepily.
"Chad can give you a ride home, I'll wait for you to shower and change & I've already gotten permission from my dad to have you stay over for awhile, not permanantly if that's not your chocie, but temporarily you can. We can just wait at the house with you if you'd like."
I stood up, and slowly nodded my head.

Don't ever say you regret something, at the point it is most likely what you thought was right for you. The things that you say, you may want to take them back but at that moment they were exactly what you meant. Don't get me wrong a lot of peole disagree with me but I honestly think.. In middle school or even throughout the early stages of highschool how can anyone be a player? Maybe, they made a mistake. Maybe, it's what they thought they wanted & afterall it wasn't.. (what's your opinion?)

He opened the screen door for me, and I stepped past him.
"THEY KISSED! I SAW IT, I DID, I DID, I DID!" Matt screached
Michael glared and I rolled my eyes.
My phone vibrated in my pocket, as I looked at the text I got a pained look in my eyes.
"What's wrong?" the family questioned
"I need to leave.. can you give me a ride to the hospital?"
"Sure, boys come with." Mr. Ray said as he hurried out the door
I was so scared when I saw the text..
- Mom, Dad car accident. In hospital. Come please, I need you. - Trina (my sister)
As I ran in, glass doors and windows revealed the mess.
I walked into my sister, and we held eachother tight, crying hysterically. By that time the Rays had excused themselves.
I decided to text Michael
- Thanks so much, I'll call you later.

I woke up the next morning to the sounds of pots and pans in the kitchen.
"Morning sweetie" Mr. Ray said
"Good morning," I yawned
"Sleep good?"
"You could say that"
"Hey Briar, wanna go outside and take in some fresh air?" Michael question
In answer I walked towards the door.
"Well, I've been wanting to talk.." Michael said
Holy cow, I hope this means something good, "Okay"
"Well, my dad and everyone else can tell there's something going on between us, but even I'm not sure what it is. You're beautiful Briar. Everytime you laugh, I can't help but smile, I cling to your every word. I want to be the the man that's there for you, and I want you to be the girl I can hold tight. So, what do you say? Would you want to be my girlfriend?"
He leaned in, and I felt his soft lips moving slowly across mine. I managed to get my simple "yes" out between breaths, but then we heard his dad call us back into the house.
We took our time up to the log cabin on the lake, hand in hand. This is the moment I've been waiting for, the perfect moment. I'd finally gotten my summer romance, my him, was finally mine.
