   One and OnlyChapter 2
   The next day I got up. I got dressed in a sweater and some jeans. I grabbed my breakfast and walked out the door. I was walking to school when I felt someone tap me on the shoulder. I quickly turned around. I saw a guy about my age walking behind me. He had blonde hair and bright blue eyes. He was carrying a guitar. “Hi,” he said. “I think you dropped this.” He handed me a notebook. I quickly took it from him, hoping he hadn’t read it. It was full of songs that I wrote. “Thanks.” I said. He held out his hand. “I’m Braden.” I smiled. “I’m Parker.” I said while shaking his hand. It turns out he went to Madison Hills High too. “So you play guitar?” I asked. “Yeah I do. Do you play any instruments?” he asked. I nodded. “Yeah I play the piano. I write songs too.” I had never told anyone that I wrote songs but Braden seemed different. “Really? That’s cool.” We talked about music all of the way to school. “You should come watch my band sometime. We are called Uncharted.” I smiled. It sounded like fun. “That would be great.” We exchanged phone numbers. I really liked Braden. He seemed really nice and sweet. We walked into school together where we were greeted by Jake. “Hey Parker.” He said with a cocky grin. “Oh hi.” I said with a frown on my face. I started to walk away. Braden followed me. “That’s not usually the reaction girls have when they talk to Jake.” Braden said. I smiled. “I guess I’m just different from those girls.” He laughed. “Okay I’ll see you late then. Bye.” He walked down the hall. I found my new friend Ava and walked with her to French class. “Hey Parker. So guess what? Jake actually talked to me today!” Ava had the biggest crush on Jake for a weird reason. I honestly had no idea why girls liked him so much. “That’s nice Ava.” I said. I tried to listen to her but all I could think about was Braden.

   Chapter 1
   I looked out the window at the sign. Madison Hills High School it read. I sighed. I was not looking forward to starting my sophomore at a different school in a different state. California seemed nice but I missed New Hampshire. “Parker you are going to love your new school!” my ever optimistic mother said. I faked a smile. “Yeah I’m so excited.” I said. Not. I got out of the car and walked through the doors. All of the girls were wearing tight shirts and tiny skirts. I was like an alien in my Forever 21 jeans and Urban Outfitters flowy top. All of the girl’s hair was blonde while mine was a dark brown. I tried to make my way through the halls without being noticed. It didn’t works so well. A jock bumped into me. “Hey I’m sorry” he said. “It’s fine” I said. This guy was tall. He had dark brown hair and gorgeous green eyes. I started to walk away. “Hey wait up cutie” he called after me. I rolled my eyes. Cutie. How I hated that word. That’s what Ryan used to call me before everything changed. This guy was a player and I didn’t want anything to do with him. He caught up to me. “My name is Jake. What’s yours?” The bell rang. “I’m late. Bye.” I walked away from him and ran into my class. The teacher arrived right after me. He told us he made a seating chart. “Parker Davis?” I raised my hand. “You will be sitting next to Jake Hall.” I suppressed a groan. I was sitting next to that jerk? Great. Jake smiled at me as he sat down. “Well hello again.” “Hi.” I mumbled, trying to pay attention to what the teacher was saying. “Well you aren’t very friendly are you?” I just ignored him as I continued listening to the teacher. The rest of the day went well after that. I made a few new friends and was even invited to a party on Friday. It was the first time in a while I had felt happy. I decided to walk home. My house was pretty close to school so it was fine. I reached my house and I walked in the doors. I walked up to my room and checked my text messages. Three new texts from Ryan. I sighed. When would he learn? I was never going back to him again.
