   Johnny Carson once caused a near month long toilet paper shortage in the U.S. in December of 1973. In his show, he said, “You know what’s disappearing from the supermarket shelves? Toilet paper… There’s an acute shortage of toilet paper in the United States.” Americans promptly went out and bought up every piece of toilet paper they could find. Supermarkets tried to ration it, but to no avail. By noon the next day, pretty much all the nation’s supermarkets were sold out.
   After several days of toilet paper shortages due to this hysteria, Carson went on the air to try to explain it had been a joke and apologized. But because the shelves were almost always empty of toilet paper at this time, whenever some would come in, people would buy it all and hoard it. This toilet paper shortage lasted a full three weeks.

    My choir director died, today.
    She was in the hospital with swine flu, and she had gotten really bad.
    There were complications and multiple organ failures, so they had her on
    life support. They decided today to turn off the machines. I'm not asking for
    favorites, I'm asking for love and support. Please Witty Girls, I've seen you save lives
    and bring up people from the lowest of lows. I loved choir, and I have grown so
    close to Dr. Sheila Siobahn over the past two years, and she has taught me so
    much. If any of you are familiar with U. I. L, we are not competing this year,
    which would have been on August 12th. If anyone would like to read about
    her last three weeks in ICU, or if you would like to read about her, or make sure

    Please, Witty Girls, help me get through this hard time.
