Blue Moon
Chapter One.
I looked at my reflection in the misty clouded light blue water.
"C'mon Morgan, let's go home!" My best friend, Karolina yelled from far behind me.
I looked back over my shoulder and watched her pick up a rock at throw it at a rotten tree.
"I'll be right there." I shouted back, then turned back towards the water, staring at my reflection again, watching as the wind blew the water, making my face wiggle in the reflection. "C'mon, it won't help if you sit by the lake your parents drowned in Morgan. Lets go home." She said, putting a hand on my shoulder, pulling up, forcing my body to go up with it. "Okay, lets go." I said, fully standing up and wiping my hands on my distressed blue jeans, walking up towards the grassy hill where the city was just beyond that. Ever since my parents drowned in the lake, I've been living in Karolina's house.
So, an estimated 7 years I've been living there. 10 years ago, my parents drowned in that very lake, from a freak accident.
"Mom, were home!" Karolina said, pushing open the broken screen door that led into her house. "Oh, hey girls! Just in time for dinner." Her mom said smiling while wiping her hands on the dish towel on her arm. "What's for dinner?" I asked fake smiling as I sat down in the wooden chair next to Karolina who was putting her napkin in her lap.
"Pot Roast, your favorite Morgan." She smiled.
I nodded, smiling fakely. To be honest, I wasn't that hungry right now.
As soon as she put the pot on the table, Karolina dug in, being the hungry 17 year old she was. She wasn't fat, nor pencil skinny. After she was done, I picked up the big metal spoon and threw some of it on my plate, then poured myself a glass of Pepsi before starting to eat my brown mush, with green and orange mixed into it.
"Thanks Mom." Karolina said, with a mouthful of carrots.
"Yes, thanks Aunt Joanne." I said smiling at her as I picked up a small piece of meat.
I call her my Aunt before I don't feeling comfortable calling her my "Mom". Even though she really isn't my mom or Aunt. Just then her husband Greg walked in, sitting next to Aunt Joanne. "Hey Morgan, hey sweetie." he said to me and Karolina.
We just nodded at him as he gave Karolina's mom a quick peck on the cheek.
"So, how was your day?" he said smiling at me.
"Oh, just great." I said, stuffing my mouth with some green things, indicating I was busy eating, which I really wasn't. I just didn't wanna talk about what we did today.
