Fate
A One Direction Fanfic
Chapter Two
*One year later*
I filed through the clothes on the sale rack. Jack Wills was an expensive store in the city outlets, but the clothes were adorable. This was a real celebrity destination. I was sure I could find something on sale. I pulled out a grey sweatshirt with pink printing that said Jack Wills.
“Cleo, look!” I said, holding my findings up against me. Cleo, my best friend, shot me a thumbs-up.
“Looks good,” said a voice. My heart jumped in my throat as I spun around to see him. Niall!
“Oh my God,” I said, feeling my face flush. My last encounter with him had been saving him from three drunken men. His face was clear and bright, his hair was darker and he had braces. Now I could fangirl.
“I remember you,” he said, “you’re Lani. You told off those three guys at the pub.”
I nodded, taking it all in. “I- I didn’t think you would remember,” I mumbled, feeling as if my heart was about to pound its way out of my chest.
“Of course!” he laughed, “I don’t know what would have happened if you weren’t there.” Cleo was now fangirling beside me.
“WHERE’S HARRY?” she blurted out.
Niall chuckled. “He’s looking for denim.” Cleo ran off in search of Harry.
“So now I can thank you in person. How ‘bout I get you that sweatshirt? You look nice in it,” he winked.
“No, it’s alright,” I said, trying to sound humble. He looked down at his sneakers, then back up at me. Our eyes really met for the first time. His were a beautiful shade of blue with yellow specks.
“Wait here,” he said, going over to a man in a suit.
