Not Your Average Teenage Love
Chapter 1
"Mom, I don't think I can do this" I said nervously as she pulled the car into the parking lot of Beachwood High school.
"Hunny, it's just your first day jitters. You'll make tons of freinds. You'll end up loving it here, I promise." she replied.
I grunted some kind of answer as the car parked out front of the school. "Good luck, sweety" she cooned gently, trying to encourage me.
I shrugged on my back pack and walked cautiously toward the front doors. Beachwood High was a medium sized school, with a student body of around 5,000. Still bigger than my old school back home, which only had 2,000. I took a breath and walked through the doors.
Starting at a new school half way across the country at the beginning of my freshman year was never my plan, and all I wanted to do was go back home to Tennessee. Chatanooga was a my true home, and as far as I was concerned it always would be.
After I stopped at the main office, I went up the stairs trying to find my locker. I dodged in and out of people. Girls squealing and running to hug each other saying "ohhhh you look so tan!" and boys tossing footballs around. When I finally found my locker, number 107, I was releived to see it was on the end, so it would be easy to find.
I put my books into my locker, and pulled out my map of the school given to me by the woman in the office. I knew I had to go to room 364, biology. I wandered the halls, trying despertaly to keep cool. Suddenly there was an arm around my waist. I whirled around to see a jock in a football jacket smiling down at me.
"Hey, you new here? Must be, since I never seen you before. What's your name, gorgeous?" He asked.
"D-Danielle" I stuttered. Dammit. My first word uttered to someone here and I couldn't even say my own name.
"Well, Danielle, you seem lost. Need some help finding something?" He smiled sweetly.
"Uhh...sure. Thanks" I smiled. I was so releived I could have had a party. "I need to get to biology"
"No problem. You were close. Just around the corner"
He led me around the corner and into the class. He said he had to go to goemetry, but he'd be happy to see me later.
I took my assigned seat next to a girl with long, dark hair, who stared at me in awe.
"Whoa..." she gasped.
"What?" I asked nervously.
"That was Booker Moore! He's like, the most popular guy in school! and not to mention hot! And a junior!" she rambled.
"oh...yeah. He was helping me find class." then I thought maybe I should tell her my name. "Hi, I'm Danielle. I'm new"
"Hey I'm Jordan." she smiled. So far, she seemed really cool.
"So, tell me some more about Booker" I said and smiled devilishly.
"oh, well...uh. Not much to tell, really. He's a jock, ya know, plays football and basketball. He has a new girlfriend about every week it seems, and he hits on basically every single girl that moves....wel almost all of them" she looked away saddly.
"oh...sorry. So, is he like, a player?" he seemed so nice to me, it was hard o think he was a bad guy.
'well, yeah, I guess you could say that. But, some advice, do't bother getting invovled with him. He would get what he wanted from you, and leave you in the dust. I would know"
"oh...he did that to you?"
"yeah...but whatever that was a year ago. I'm over it. Hey, you should sit with us at lunch today! I bet my friends would love you."
"wow, thanks! Sounds great" I was so happy. My first day, my first class, and I already had a friend.
"let me see your schedule, maybe we have some more classes together" she reached over and snatched my schedule from my desk. After a bit, she smiled and handed it back.
"so?" I asked.
"almost every calss together. Except you're in photography. I'm in yearbook meets that period"
"wow, tha's great! Now maybe I won't get lost." I was jumping up and down inside, but I had to keep cool on the outside.
"don't worry, I won't let you down" She smiled.
Class began, the day proceeded, and I actually survived it.
