i don't even smoke cigarettes;
but i love writing about them.
the way they look in human hands
and you just know that they are sad enough to need
something to calm the thoughts throughout the day;
the way the smoke slithers from the ablaze butt
and withers away like it wasn't even there in the first place.
maybe it's because people themselves
are a lot like cigarettes:
at some point they wither away
and run out, unable to move for-
ward because somebody was sel-
fish enough to put them out.

How does one live knowing their very existence is a joke? A silver, a peeling of the extra filth scraped off the greasy underside of the world. The ones that scuttle in the dark and hide their faces. With a face only a mother could love, if such a person wasn't overcome in the grief and embarrassment of such and existence.
Being you, No, is as a human related such as that could be used to describe it. Nor all the walls and tattered sheets in the world can cover such a stain.

In case I decide to drown myself by swimming out into the ocean until exhaustion (or something more sinister) drags me under. I'm going to die to the ocean and I never shall return. Too wrinkled for a casket, and too soggy for an urn. I'll swim until I tire and sink peacful, to the floor. Then down there, with fishes I shall dream forevermore.

i'm not intirely sure
where i lost myself
maybe it was in those 8 hours
of classtime
lost in notes and due dates
equations and defenitions
in beds of strangers or
old friends who i no longer
know the whereabouts of
was it in love lost and forgotten?
perhaps words and friendly exchanges
greetings and goodbyes
did i lose myself somewhere
along those roads driven on
late nights
to places with people whose
faces i won't ever recall?
did i leave myself behind in

perhaps night is the time when all our
thoughts are allowed to roam free.
maybe sleep is designed to protect us
from them, capturing those thoughts and
turning them into beautiful,
terrifying dreams.
maybe those dreams are meant to be
forgotten by morning, so we do
not have to face our fears in complete
sentences.
maybe it is only by accident we remember
bits and peices.
but i am sleepless
i do not allow my dreams to guard me
from the hideousness of my mind, nor

me.
i face my demons. i look into
their eyes and see their faces and
hear their whispers. i fight them.

that we whisper under our breath as we're tangled in the sheets.
to be loved by someone is truly magical.
but hearing you say it holds a totally different meaning
and i doubted for a long time that you would never love me like i do you.
there is so much i want you to know, but i really don't know how to say it.
please excuse the awkward smiles, quiet stares in the hallway, and texts
at peculiar moments
because i'm still trying to figure out how someone like you can fill my
