"Ashley! Wake up! It's 3 o'clock!"
I slightly open my eyes. I should probablyl get to sleep earlier. I check my phone. One new text from my best friend, Madison: Heey(: So are we going to Jake's party tonight or not?(: Ah, I forgot all about that. I don't think my mother would let me go, but it's worth a shot. See, my mom is super strict. She doesn't like me hanging out with guys. She wants me to wake up at like 10 in the morning when there's no school. She doesn't like me wearing sIutty clothes. She doesn't like me wearing too much makeup. She doesn't like me staying out too late when I'm with friends or at a party, if she lets me go to one. I swear, I don't even see how we're related. Anyways, I text Madison back: I'll ask, hold on :)
I wake up and go downstairs, ready to face my mom.
"Ashley, what time did you go to bed last night? You've practically slept through the entire day. This laziness is just getting unacceptable."
"Mom, it's summer. Please just relax?"
She looks at me for a long time. "I just.. Fine. I'll try to 'relax'. Anyways, I have a meeting with a client at 4 o'clock, so I better get going. Do you think you could make yourself some breakfast? Well it shouldn't really be called breakfast since it's 3 p.m." She gives me this look. I can't quite describe it, but let's just say that if she had laser vision, this would be the time she would use it.
"Yeah, I guess. Hey, Mom?" I ask right as she's about to walk out the door. "Can I go to this party tonight?"
"What party? Who's throwing it? Will there be adult supervision?"
"IT's this kid, Jake. He's very responsible, and there's going to be seniors, which means there is adult supervision. They're 18, so technically, they're adults."
"Honey, you know how I feel about you going to these parties, let alone a boy's that I don't even know? You can't just pop these questions at the last minute and expect me to say yes."
"Please, Mom? Madison's mom is letting her go."
"I'm not Madison's mom, I'm yours. My final answer is no. End of discussion."
"But-"
"I really have to go now. I won't be back until later tonight because I have two other clients I'm meeting with. Goodbye, Sweetie."
Well, that went exactly as planned. I get out my phone and I text Madison: What time are you picking me up? :)
