16 & Pregnant: Not Your Typical MTV Reality Show
Chapter 22
My party was insaneeee! I loved it! Practically everybody was dressed up. Most of the girls were wearing party dresses, and the boys were dressed similar to Coop with button up shirts and pants. Mackenzie had gotten a DJ, and there was a huge space for dancing. Long tables were set up with tons of food and drinks, as well as a table for gifts. Lots of people were out on the dance floor, while others were sitting at round tables eating and talking. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. I walked around and talked to people for a bit. I was finally able to introduce my other friends to Cooper. He was so charming, which made it really easy for people to talk to him.
After I got tired of walking around and talking to people, Coop and I went to go dance. Once we finally got to the dance floor, hello the ballroom was PACKED with people, a slow song came on. Cooper pulled me gently towards him. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he did the same around my waist. We gazed into each other's eyes, and he whispered, "Our first dance was a slow dance."
I smiled. I had tears in my eyes. "I can't believe I only met you three weeks ago. I can't imagine my life without you."
"You'll never have to imagine it; I'm never gonna leave." Cooper leaned down and kissed me. We pulled apart, and the DJ "aww'd" over the microphone. Everybody joined in and clapped. We just grinned.
We danced a while longer with our friends. Around 10, Mackenzie stood by the DJ and said into the mic, "Cake time!!! C'mon A!" Mack walked down from the DJ's booth, grabbed my hand, and led me over to the table where the huge cake was. I walked to where the cake was set on the table. It was then I noticed, that there was only one cake, along with hundreds of brightly colored cupcakes. None of it hadn't been there earlier, so it must've just been brought in. The cake looked, not only incredibly creative, but delicious! It was a two-tiered chocolate/yellow cake with lime green, bright blue, black, and white icing. The cake was for me and my close friends, while the hundreds of large cupcakes were for everybody else at the party. I stood behind my cake with Cooper on my left and Eli and Mackenzie on my right. Everyone took pictures of us and my cake. Mack then lit the big "17" on the top of the cake. Everyone began to sing. Coop squeezed my hand. I grinned. I finally blew out my candles and everyone cheered. Most of the guests somewhat scattered then, mostly to go get in line for cupcakes. I cut my cake and ate with Cooper, Eli, Mackenzie, and 4 or 5 of my other good friends.
My friends and I sat at a round table reserved for us. We ate and talked for a while. I was having such a great time, I didn't want the party to end! Then, Cooper's cellphone rang. He looked at it, it was an unknown number. He glanced at me unsure, and then answered it. He listened for a few seconds on the other end, before his jaw dropped. He told the person on the other end to hold on. He held his phone to his chest and said to me, "It's my mom...."
I was honestly taken aback. Cooper's mom had left him and his father shortly after she gave birth to Coop. His dad has taken care of him ever since and never remarried. His mom would call his dad every few months to see how Coop was doing, but Cooper always refused to talk to her.
"Coop, you should talk to her." I said quietly.
He slowly nodded his head. "I'll be back." He stood up and kissed my forehead. He turned and walked out of the door to the ballroom.
After we all finished our cake, we walked around and talked to others. I met a guy named Spencer. He was a senior that I'd never met before. He was on the football team, and of course the whole team was invited. He was funny and cute. But he smelled like alcohol. We had alcohol at the party of course. Yeah we were underage, but it was kinda a necessity at a party like this! Eventually, Spencer convinced me to have a beer. I was kinda hesitant, I mean I was pregnant after all, but I decided one beer wouldn't hurt. Well I was wrong. That one beer soon turned into four within a hour. And Cooper STILL wasn't back....
