I didn't realize how much I am beginning to depend on him to be a good thing in my life until he doesn't text back for a few days. I'm so scared to lose him when I hardly even have him. My gaurd is up, even though it shouldn't be, and he doesn't get why. That might be what ruins "us" in the long run, but I'm going to try to not let it. I'm just worried I won't be able to...

I wonder sometimes what kind of person I could have become if The Horrible Thing didn't happen.
I was in kindergarten when it happened, It's haunted me ever since.
I realized recently... it hasn't only tortured my concious mind.
No, it's effected me in ways that you have to dig deep to see.
Right after The Horrible Thing happened, I developed a stutter. I didn't have one as a toddler, as most sttutters do.
I stopped sleeping. I became a raging insomniac afraid of my own dreams as if overnight.
I went from a happy little kid who loved to run and play to a high-strung, senstitive kid who couldn't stop crying.
I developed an anxiety disorder, childhood depression, an eating disorder.
I became shy. I never was before.
I wish The Horrible Thing never happened.
I fear I will never be anything but "scary and damaged" because of it.
Mostly, I just want my childhood back.
I want to know who I could have been without The Horrible Thing having happened.

I was scrolling down my Facebook newsfeed when I saw a quote someone had posted:
"If you can't find the answer, maybe it's time you change the question."
Well, I've been having a really hard week, and that really made me think...
The question I've been trying to find the answer to is "Does he like me?"
When really, I should just put that in God's hands, then ask myself this:
"Why does it matter? Why do I not feel like I'm worth anything unless he does? And why, if that's the case, am I so miserable? What can I do to feel better? And does it, in the long run, actually have anything to do with him?"
Obviously, these are the questions I really need to be asking myself.
Because something has got to change.

I don't understand why everyone is making such a big deal about
Amanda Todd.
I get the fact that people are trying to get the point across
that bullying is bad.
But I don't understand why her story is so famous when
there are so many other people out there commiting suicide
for the same reason.
I get that she made a mistake and people bullied her.
That she tried telling everyone how she felt.
And that she took her life because of bullying.
But there are so many others that go through the same thing.
So why is her story any different?

“Don’t listen to her, Cal” she whispered, laying down and resting her head on his shoulder.
Caleb recognized her voice and responded without opening his eyes. “I know Ellie… but I haven’t, you know. Kissed a girl, that is,” he mumbled, blushing furiously.
“So what, Caleb O’Malley, so what?” Ella said with more oomph than she’d originally intended. Several people briefly turn around to look at them. She lowered her voice to add, “We’re only fifteen. One day I promise you, you will. But really, since when do you care about what Brittany says?” She briefly glanced at Brittany and her friends, who (having moved on from Caleb) were now gossiping about someone else.
“I don’t,” he said somewhat indignantly, “just… just, well, there’s this girl I really like. I know this sounds clichéd, but I just can’t get her out of my head. And she’s here tonight. She heard what Brittany said.”
“Well, she’s very lucky, and I’m sure she wouldn’t think any less of you because of that,” Ella soothed patiently. “You know, I haven’t had my first kiss yet either,” she added in a tiny whisper. She just hoped he’d heard.
“Okay Ellie,” Caleb concluded contentedly, and then fell back asleep.
Those were the words Ella spoke, but as she said them her heart sunk just a little; she’d had a crush on Caleb as long as she could remember. She looked around for who this girl could be, but then, resting her head on Caleb’s chest, turned her attention back to the world of Atticus Finch, Scout and Jem. Whoever this girl was, Ella half hoped she was everything her best friend deserved and half envied her with her whole heart.

Chapter 1
“So you mean to tell me,” a loud, shrill female voice shrieked, “that you’ve never even kissed anybody?”
“If I say yes, will it make you go away?” grumbled Caleb.
“Oh my God, can you guys believe it? Caleb’s a lip virgin! What a loser!” Brittany shrieked.
Merely feet away, Ella Delaney sat, reading a book, watching her childhood friend’s face redden and his fists clench in frustration. He was very shy, but also very proud, and he liked nothing less than to be called out negatively.
Ella, Caleb, Brittany, and about forty other teens made up a high school track team. They sat in a circle in a huge, drafty, echoing building where their meet was being held, waiting for various races. Some did homework, others dozed off, and others still sat around chatting. Their coach, Mrs. Hopkins sat several yards away, quietly surveying her motley crew. It was the middle of January and at 7:00 the sky was pitch black. Snow flurries were falling outside.
Caleb sighed and slumped down on the floor, slightly separating himself from the group as Ella watched, concerned. He lay down and propped his head up on his folded up sweatshirt, closing his eyes and running his fingers through his blonde hair. It stuck up in all directions, endearingly reminded Ella of when they were little and he refused to comb his hair. She put down her book (To Kill a Mockingbird could wait), and tiptoed over to Caleb.
