Ya, hi, I'm from that quote about autocorrect and we got into a sort of fight and I wanted to apologise if I came off as rude, or snobby. The truth is, I'm just really sensitive about religion because I've had it shoved down my throat by media and then seen white people parade around in movies acting like it's this exotic, romantic thing. The truth is, I'm not a religious person, I've never really gone out of my way to tell people I'm Hindu because well, 9/10 of the people I know are. Either way, I apologise if I've offended you in anyway. reply

hey, I'm from that "autocorrect" quote and I didn't want to keep commenting on it so, I decided to comment here. So, to answer your question- India is a very, very culturally an religiously diverse place. More than America. The thing is, over here, instead of a christian majority, we have a Hindu majority followed by Muslims. For centuries, we've more or less coexisted peacefully (unless you count Aurangzeb and a few others), the only thing is, in our culture, marriages are generally done within the caste and community, your partners chosen by your parents. This is changing slowly now. I'm going off topic, anyway, until recently (bc of the BJP and the RSS) Muslims were never considered secondary citizens, never treated such. Now, because of some Hindu fundamentalists, the secularism is wearing slightly thin, I think (and hope) this will pass. The insecurity is because tensions b/n India and Pakistan are tenser than ever. Most sensible people know that Indian Muslims are just like us. That, or the unrest is bc of the propoganda by the BJP, its almost election time. reply

Actually, if the class average was 75% in my school, we'd probably get a lecture from the principal, were Indian and 75% even if it were for maths would be considered horrible.
Besides, your friend should be happy that 75% is considered good.
Sigh, in our school, getting a B1 in any subject is like death. reply

Another thing that really annoys me are girls who act really superior and condescending to other girls who like pretty clothes and watch their weight, like seriously, it's just as misogynistic as telling someone that they should wear nicer clothes. reply

Take it from the girl who's spoken Tamil from birth, it means "I am murder". A Tamil sentence saying "I plan to kill myself" would be a very long sentence, "naan tharkolai seiya nanaikiren/ yosikiren" plus, kola I means murder, whereas tharkolai means suicide. reply

I know, I loved it so much I would just read it and cry and cry for hours.
I was actually personally offended by the quote because I dress like that and I would hate if someone said that I only did it to impress boys, even if I did, its really no one else's business reply

Something productive? Gee, I dunno, I'm getting an internship at a hospital this summer to put on my college applications. I did get top marks in maths. Maybe I should completely ruin my future by smoking pot. Yea, that sounds like SUCH a good idea. reply
