Behind my closed eyes...
Chapter 2
Not a long while later my alarm went off blasting “Moves like Jagger” in my ear.
I groaned and slapped the pause button.
I swung my legs down so my feet could reach the freezing floor of my room.
Walking over to my mirror I took out my bun and brushed my blond hair that was still wet from my shower the night before.
When I was done getting dressed and making my bed I grabbed my pre-packed bag and dragged it downstairs.
“Morning Hannah,” my mom said cheerily.
“Morning mom,” I grumbled still half asleep.
“How did you sleep?”
“Pretty good, I had a weird dream though,” I said grabbing a box of cereal and pouring it into my bowl.
“What was it?”
“I’m not even sure anymore,” I said avoiding the question and focusing on the T.V. and eating my cereal.
“And now time for breaking news from Josh Judge,” the reporter Amy Caveno said.
“Thank you Amy, now here I stand across from the I-93 Bridge,
and as you can see there has been one or more explosions
causing the bridge to crumble into the river. Rescue teams have been sent
into the water by boat to look for survivors and divers have been
sent to do the same. Police and Firemen have not released
specifics on the issue, but I promise you we will keep you updated.
This is Josh Judge WMUR News 9. Back to you Amy,” he said.
Frozen from shock I tuned out the T.V, that was my dream, my exact dream. I turned to my mom, panic-stricken.
“Mom, does dad take the I-93 Bridge to work,” I questioned fearing for my dad’s safety.
She pondered my question for a moment, “Usually yes, he does, but today he was going up to a vender in Keene, so he took back roads and not the highway.”
“Oh, um, okay,” I stuttered.
Not wanting to stick around any longer I cleaned my bowl, and ran
upstairs to brush my teeth.
When I ran back downstairs I threw on my jacket and said bye to my mom.
I ran down the street to the bus stop.
In slowed to a walk when I saw my neighbor Dom realizing I was still early.
“You’re late,” he said as I walked up to him.
“Yeah, yeah, I know, don’t worry,” I said hitting his Ottawa Oilers hat,
which covered his brown hair.
“Watch it!”
“Can I ask you something?”
“You just did.”
“I’m going to take that as a, ‘yeah, sure, what was your question?’ Kay,”
emphasizing with quotation marks.
He just glared at me so I took that as another yes.
“Is it possible to have a special power?”
“What you mean being able to shoot a puck a hundred miles an hour like Zedeno Chara, yes it is.”
“I already knew that stupid; by the way did they win last night?”
“Yup, 8-1.”
“Sweet, but now back on topic. I mean like supernatural stuff. Like being able to fly, read minds, maybe even see the future?”
“I wish, that would be awesome… but no its not.”
A few other people were gathering around so I dropped the con
versation, not wanting them to judge me.
While waiting for the bus to come I thought about what he said I knew he was right and why was I making a big deal about it,
I was sure that I was just reading too much into it.
