Chapter One -
Sometimes it's better to start going and never look back. Everyone's lifetime is a collection of stories that explains who they are, where they've been, and where they plan to go from here. The summer of 2007 marked the start of my story, or when atleast I'd like it to start.
It was raining that day, and the clouds were a strange white-blue, and I remember thinking that they were gorgeous. Sitting at a coffee shop alone on a Saturday doesn't especially help your social standards, especially when you're Sandra O'Connel, which is me, by the way. Highschool was soon to be over, and I already was accepted into three colleges of my choice. There were many things I still wanted to do, one of which was to meet a boy like Derek Lagoon. He walked into the little coffee shop with an amused smile on his face and raindrops dotted his shoulders and stuck to his hair. I remember the sparkle of his eyes, which were the same white-blue as the clouds, and maybe thats why I knew they were so pretty. Anyway, Derek Lagoon was not the kind of boy you called by one name. He was just that special. And when he came and sat down next to me, the tile floor squeaking underneath his rainsoaked nikes, I knew that I wouldn't call him by one name either.
The sweet smell of his cologne rushed past my face as he slid into the booth seat opposite of me. "Sandra, if there's one thing I've ever noticed about you, it's that you're a people watcher." Dumbfounded that he had ever noticed a person like me, I widened my eyes and opened my mouth, still shocked that such a beautiful and popular person would be talking to, well, me. I guess it would be typical to say that all girls are self-confident in their looks, but overall I wasn't disappointed in myself. Although I wouldn't call myself a drop dead beauty, but confidence and arrogance are two different things that shouldn't be confused. Even though I'm smart, his cologne had messed with my head or something, because I lamely responded with, "What?" He laughed and then continued, "You've always been a people watcher. I can tell that you'd rather watch people enjoy themselves then actually take part in it yourself." Now it was my turn to smile, because he may think he's got it right, and figured me out, but boy is he all wrong.
