hey guys, i know i don't post here much
but i'm on witty alllllll the time, just like you.
i fall in love carelessly, try to lose weight,
and love music... just like you.
something that is probably not like you, however, is that
i'm right in the middle of hurricane sandy
in my hometown of brick, new jersey.
and it's heartbreaking.
i haven't had electricty since 12:30 on monday, october 29.
i now have friends who don't have houses
because they are underwater.
under. water.
two of my aunts, who live in different places entirely,
(fairfield, connecticut and middletown, new jersey)
both had huge trees crash through their homes,
threatening both their lives, plus my uncles and cousins.
the seaside heights boardwalk,
(yes, like the show 'jersey shore')
that was 10 minutes from my home,
where i spent my childhood, is gone.
i have so many memories there,
i can't even begin to explain the pain
that my friends and i feel, to know they will be the last ones.
new jersey halloween 2012 is cancelled
and rescheduled to monday,
which, we all know, won't be the same.
i haven't had school since friday, october 26,
and i am not supposed to go back until monday, november 12...
because the roads that are so flooded,
and the trees that are in the road,
mean that busses can't travel anywhere.
so why am i telling you all this?
well, for one, i'm feeling sorry for myself.
i really am.
i never post on witty to vent, but i need to today.
but i'm also making this quote because i'm thankful.
thankful that my family is alive.
i'm thankful that i still have a home.
that my friends are okay, despite it all.
another reason i made this quote,
(i'm almost done, i swear)
is to remind everyone how lucky you truly are.
that even when you think your life sucks,
it could be worse.
i know this was an eye-opener for me.
the last reason is: expect the unexpected.
at my friend's halloween rave (big party) on saturday,
you know what we all said?
"hurricane sandy warnings are so stupid;
it's probably not even going to rain."
and boy, were we wrong.
