What happened to Peace, Love, and Happiness?
Part 8
Somehow, I managed to make it down the edge of the cliff without slipping or falling or dying. Aiden had lead me into a small cave in the face of the cliff. "Not so bad, right?" I shook my head. It actually wasn't that bad. He sat down near the edge, looking out over the water. The full moon gave an eerie look to the waves crashing against the rocks below us. He patted the spot next to him with his hand, motioning for me to sit. So I sat.
We just sort of sat there for a while, listening to the waves. Aiden was leaning back on his elbows, legs stretched out in front of him. I took a moment to look him over. His eyes looked strange in the moonlight, and his hair looked like it was covered in ice. He had on a simple dark green t-shirt and jeans, and a pair of sneakers. After several seconds I realized that Aiden was also looking me over. Our eyes locked and I shivered, suddenly painfully aware of how cold it was. I was the first to look away. "You cold?" I nodded just enough for it to be considered a nod. "A little...." He smiled and slipped an arm around me, pulling me close. "Any better?" I nodded again, speechless. I was more confused than I ever had been, and a little bit nervous, too.
