Once upon a time, in a young girl's heart
A story replays of a love torn apart.
Her knight in white armor, straight from a tale
The seeming redemption of her previous fail.
For when it came to love, she was mediocre at best
Not experienced enough to know the false from the blessed
And for the first month, it was her dream come true
The perfect gentleman to turn her gray skies into blue
But he tired of her quickly, her worst nightmares alive
When he retreats from her care and their love takes a dive
No words barely spoken, the feelings died
But only in his heart; her's still thrived
She begged for his love, despite her happiness being haunted
Did her best to become everything that he wanted
But he was unmovable, he broke her to pieces
With words like poison, and all feeling ceases.
He leaves her alone, bloodied and broken
Her mind left to fester with thoughts of all the words unspoken
She eventually stops eating, her body wasting away
Sleep evades her, her world painted in shades of gray.
But she soon recovers, a long time later
Learns to lvie with the hole in her heart and thoughts of it's creator
She learns to smile again, and smile for real.
Everything broken slowly starting to heal.
But soon after her recovery, her knight returned
Tears in his eyes that he fears being spurned.
For her knows he hurt her, and rightfully so,
He deserved all that pain back, sevenfold.
There was joy in his return, the girl was in tears
But her heart had grown a shell in the past two years.
They try to mend their broken love, the knight filled with regret
And though she tries hard, she cannot forget.
The love she felt was gone, replaced with detatchment
A time where she adored him seemed horribly ancient.
He cried and pleaded, their roles suddenly reversed
But she left him behind with a feeling that was worse.
Once upon a time, far far away
Stories like hers repeat everyday.
