Still Beating
Chapter 1
I ran down the sidewalk the cool nights wind ruffling my hair. I couldn’t remember where I was as usual it was just a big blur! I stepped up the old cement steps and into my apartment building the smell of alcohol still lingered in the air! I think I was at a party but I had no memories of it. I switched on the dim lamp that sat near the door and walked into the living room my mom was passed out on the couch a beer bottle still in her hand. I grabbed the bottle from her hand and placed it on the table beside her, her breathing was light and rapid. I put a blanket over her body then went down the hall to my bedroom I could already fell my hangover coming on. I forgot everything I did all I knew was I felt like crap! I laid down into my cold empty bed and after hours of staring into space trying to fall to sleep I realized I was never going to so I got up and looked at the clock it read 5:45! I jumped into the cold unforgiving water of the shower and got dressed for the day. I didn’t have money for all the cool clothes the other kids wear so I usually get them from hemi-down stores or dumpsters around my apartment. I walked out the door of the apartment my mom was still sleeping I couldn’t have the bus pick me up in front of this nasty building so I always walked 30 minutes up the street to a nicer richer neighborhood and waited at that bus stop, all my friends thought I lived there! I got onto the bus it was loud as usual I plastered on a fake scowl and walked to the back of the bus were all the “popular kids” sat. I sighed and started my fake conversation, using my fake voice, my fake smile, my fake laugh, my fake attitude, my fake personality, and my fake self!
I got home from school later that day and walked inside the house, my mom sat on the couch next to my dad, probably about child support since their divorced, my mom was obviously already drunk I looked down to the ground and took fast paced steps towards my room, but I was too late they spotted me my mom scowled getting up and walking toward me. She grabbed the collar on my shirt and pulled my towards her then she moved her hand to grasp my hair she pulled it so my ear was right up against her mouth.
“You dirty sl*t you think your so much better than me” She smelt horrible like she hadn’t bathed properly in days or like she had swam in a pool of beer and trash.
My dad stood up swiftly, “Ann,” He shouted her name.
“Get out,” She yelled back!
He looked at me with sorry eyes then left out the door into the frigid air of the winter night. My mom pulled my hair down to the ground making my body follow it she straddled me on the ground and with her nasty breath put her mouth up to my face.
“You think your better than me don’t you, your so stupid Charlotte!” She breathed.
She began to hit me over and over punching me and then began to get up and kick, taking every chance to pull my blonde silky hair. I refused to let any gasp come from my mouth, any tear fall from my eye, any whimper be released and this just made her angrier. After an hour of this brutal torment she got off of me and disappeared into the darkness of the living room leaving my on the floor. I got up and ran down the hall into my room pulling off my old shoes and wrapping my body in an old blanket I’ve had since I was little. I opened my wooden closet door and went in curling up on the floor in the blanket still refusing to show any pain to anyone even
me.
So I did the first chapter as you can see! Haha Its boreing right now but It will pick up! I really like how all the writers on witty give a clue so I decided I would to and I decided I'd, unlike all other writters who write from the victems point of veiw so like the outcast in school I decided I'd write from the "popular girls" point of veiw. But it has another twist it shows how she doesn't have a perfect life and how the saying "You know my name not my story" counts for "populars" too! (Though it dosen't for all)
LOL!

I'm back from my break from writing but I've decided I would end the story I was writing "The Happening" and begin a new story! The story will be called "Still beating"

Sorry for the long wait for the next chapter on my story..... but I'm taking some time off writing this story so I can work on a personal story about me and my life, I'm not putting that story on here because its very personal but once I'm a ways into it I will begin to write again! Wanna be notifyyed for when I do COMMENT!

THE HAPPENING
chapter 10 PART 2
Corine and Melissa walked up the porch steps horribly hungry and thirsty. They walked into the house to see Kelsey, Josh, and Nathan lying on the couch with big smiles. Cartons spread across the floor and the fridge open and empty. Keren walked up the porch behind Melissa and Corine.
“What the hell,” They screamed.
“You ate all our food, and didn’t share any with us,” Keren pushed through and knelt down beside the empty bowls and packaging.
“No, you can’t do this. We are going to starve! You didn’t even invite us to eat any!” Corine Screamed sitting down next to Keren and licking clean the boxes.
“We are going to starve! We are!” Melissa joined Keren and Corine.
“We’re so sorry!” Kelsey breathed.
“We’re going to dehydrate!” Corine growled.
“How could you,” Keren yelled.
“We said we are sorry!” Josh shouted at Keren.
“That’s not going to save are lives!” Corine stood up.
“We have to find food,” Keren ran out the door and down the beach.

Keren ran down the beach everyone was out of sight by now and she was even more thirsty and hungry after running. She dropped to the ground and scooped sand with her hands. She knew she might be able to find some type of shell fish and if not maybe she could ketch some fish. She dug and dug her hunger becoming more extreme by the minute! She scooped some wet sand and shoved it into her mouth, it hurt the insides of her cheeks and scratched at her throat and of course it tasted like dirt but she shoved it down her throat. It made her stomach ache and didn’t help her hunger at all. She collapsed onto the dirt.

Corine slit the top of a big wooden stick and stuck the only string she could find in the slit and tied it. She grabbed a sharp paper clip and tied it to the end. Then she tossed the end into the waves and hoped she would get at least a little nip. Josh walked up behind her.
“We’re truly sorry,” He grabbed the pole and pulled it from the water.
“Why’d you do that,” Corine snatched the pole from his hands.
“You’ll never get a bite because of the waves!” He began to walk away.
“Then what do I do?” Corine yelled after him.

THE HAPPENING
chapter 10 PART 1
Melissa was walking down the beach looking for food or anything it had been six days since they finished sharing their secrets and nothing had happened. Food and water were running low and by now everyone just wanted a bath. Melissa could feel her stomach aching, it growled and burned it felt hollow. By now she would eat anything, they only had about a day’s food left for one person and they were trying to stretch that over weeks. She saw nothing just yellow sand and more yellow sand! She fell to the ground her mouth felt as though she had a sand paper tongue.

Nathan sat alone in the kitchen the only food and water left scattered in the kitchen, he couldn’t control his body as he got up and walked to the fridge to get something anything to eat. He opened it and his mouth dropped open as he saw the little food left. Kelsey walked up to him and cringed at the sight of the open fridge.
“Don’t remind me about it,” She closed the fridge.
“I just want one little nibble,” He frowned eyeing the fridge.
“I know but who knows how long we’ll be here,” She sat down also watching the fridge.
“I’m so hungry,” Nathan moaned.
Josh walked downstairs and sat down next to them, “Me too dude, me too.”
“Maybe one nibble won’t hurt,” Kelsey licked her lips.
“No definitely not!” Josh began to open the fridge door.

THE HAPPENING
chapter 9
Corine let the wave’s splash playfully at her feet. Her tears fell from her eyes and splashed Into the ocean.
“You can’t cry if you’re under water,” She whispered and fell to her knees submerging her head under the water, she continued to cry but her tears didn’t show they just combined with the water.
She brought her head up for air and caught a glimpse of josh.
“What do you want,” She growled, “To scream at me, to attack me.”
“No, I’m sorry,” He helped her up, “You’re the strongest one here and you’ve had to face so much, it’s okay if you need to cry and let it out!”
“No its not,” She answered.
“Corine its ok,” He grabbed her arm.
“No,” She screamed.
He wrapped his arms around her small waste and put his hand on the back of her head, “Its ok,” He kissed her warm lips lightly.
“Josh no,” she breathed then turned and walked across the sand leaving josh standing on the warm beach.
“They take guys for granted,” Keren walked up to Josh watching Corine walk away, “Girls like that; they see this perfect image and leave everyone else in the dirt.”
“She’s not just some girl!” Josh turned towards Corine.
“Face it Josh, you’re a player, and she’s hard to get, you like the chase but as soon as she likes you back the feelings will go away. You don’t like her, you like the game!” Keren glared at him.
“No, that’s not how it is!” Josh fought.
“Yes it is, you will go right back to all those girls, all the clueless girls!”
“No,” He laughed.
“Then kiss me,” Keren reached for his neck.
“Why what will that prove?” Josh asked.
“A lot,” She bit her lip and leaned in to kiss him.
“No,” He walked away.
“Well the offer always stands,” Keren giggled.
Kelsey sat on one of the beds on the second floor of the house staring through the window and looking up to the sky.
“What are you doing,” asked Nathan as he sat down next to her and placed his arms around her.
“The writing,” She answers leaning into him.
“What does it say?” he looked out the window.
“Todays the last day to tell your secrets,” Kelsey turned towards him.
“But, we did,” He moved his hands to the small of her back.
“I’m tired of all this waiting around, there has to be a way off this island there’s no way this can just happen,” She wrapped her arms lightly around his shoulders.
“Want to go take a look,” He asked kindly.
“Not now,” She leaned in to kiss him.

THE HAPPENING
chapter 8
1 year earlier
Melissa stumbled out of a random blue minivan, her eyes weren’t focused they had what seemed like a glaze covering them. The van drove away and she waved laughing hysterically with to other girls . Her step brother sat on the porch home alone.
“You were supposed to be home to watch me an hour ago,” He squeaked in his 4 year old voice.
“Well I’m here now,” Melissa slurred.
The girls stumbled inside, “Bye little boy they laughed.
“Wait you have to bring me to school,” The boy followed her inside.
“Go by yourself,” Melissa screamed.
“Fine,” He grumbled.
Melissa sat down to smoke a joint when she heard the heart wrenching noise of a car tumbling over something and bones snapping, she ran outside to see her dead step brother’s guts spread across the road. All Melissa could do is stand there drunk and high, knowing she just killed a little boy.
Present time
Melissa sat there a tear dripping down her cheek, it was the last day to share their secrets and she didn’t know if she could. She sat there on a chair out on the house’s porch rapped in a blanket. The air was warm as usual, for it is a tropical island, but she felt cold on the inside.
“Hey,” Corine fell into the chair beside Melissa, “You must be sweating!”
“Uh, no,” Melissa laughed a bit wiping away the last of her tears.
“What is it,” Corine asked.
“I was just thinking, because it’s the last day we can share are secret or else,” Melissa sniffled.
“Yeah,” Corine frowned.
“How are we going to do it,” Melissa asked.
“I don’t know,” Corine mumbled, “Let’s just do it!”
Everyone sat in the kitchen eating breakfast as Melissa told her heart wrenching story.
“Ok,” Kelsey frowned, “I’m so sorry for attacking you, I get why you don’t party or drink. And it is really bad.”
Corine slouched down onto the couch.
“It all started when I was in first grade,” Corine’s eyes became wet, “Well let’s just say, my teacher liked little girls. It continued as I grew and finally when I turned 15 I told my friend and he got arrested.”
“Woah,” Josh breathed, “Well now we’ve all told our secrets so what happens now?”
“Okay, I’m going to take a walk,” Corine sniffled.

THE HAPPENING
chapter 6
The boys left to go and scout the island well the girls stayed back at the house so they could search it!
“Hey Melissa?” Kelsey kneeled next to Melissa who was going through the draws below the coffee table in the living room, “I just wanted to say I’m sorry for attacking you, last night, it was mean and selfish, and I have no excuse for doing that, sorry!”
“It’s ok,” Melissa stood up with a flashlight in hand, “Might come in handy!”
“It might,” Kelsey laughed, “I’m going to search the upstairs!”
“Alright,” Melissa smiled and began searching the other cabinets.
Kelsey walked up stairs and began searching the draws in the rooms.
“Hey,” Keren walked up and slumped down onto the bed.
“I cannot find anything!” Kelsey sat down next to her.
“Me neither, and did you notice the writing in the sky changed!”
“No what does it say?”
“Two more days to share those dirty secrets.”
“I wonder what will happen if we do?”
“Me two, truthfully I’m scared we pretend it’s nothing that’s happening, but this doesn’t happen!”
“I know what you mean, my secret, it’s something that I would never want to share with anyone,” Keren let a tear drop down her face.
“You can tell me,” Kelsey rubbed her back.
“All my life, since I can remember my dad’s been gone, he left me when I was really little,” Keren began to sob, “But that’s not it, my mom was a drug addict and an alcoholic she would drink and get high all the time! She would bring home random guys! And now that I understand it, I get she was a prostitute! And I hated it I hated it! Now I live with my grandma.”
“It’s ok,” Kelsey whispered, “But you got to tell the group we’ll be much closer to finding our way out!”
“Ok, but only if you do to,” Keren whipped her wet eyes with the back of her hand!
“Ok,” Kelsey answered.
The boys later got back from their search and found NOTHING! The girls sat them down.
“Keren and I are ready. Ready to share our secrets.” Kelsey muttered.
Keren told her slowly she tried to act strong but broke down to tears towards the end!
“Your turn,” Josh looked towards Kelsey.
“I was dating a guy,” Kelsey let a tears fall from her eyes silently, “He wasn’t the nicest, he would beat me every day, I hated it, at one point he nearly killed me and I was brought to the hospital, he was arrested, and I stayed in the hospital for a long time! I met Nate in a therapy session for the abused and abusive.”
Kelsey began to sob everyone was down and felt horrible.
“We all do, have secrets, Don’t we?” Corine mumbled.

chapter 5
Melissa laid down on the edge of the bed she was sharing with the two other girls, it was the middle of the night and she knew she wouldn’t be able to fall back to sleep so she walked outside onto the porch. Kelsey walked outside and stood beside her.
“You know, I’ve always loved the night, it’s so nice in the summer, the tempter cools down and the world quiets and you are in the dark, and you, you, alone get to create the way you look at it because the only image you have is darkness! Which is like no image at all? You probably think I’m weird but that’s how I look at it,” Kelsey smiled and leaned against the rail on the porch.
“It’s not weird,” Melissa replied and gazed deeply into the darkness.
“People wonder how I stay with Nate, after what he did! But he is amazing! He gets what he did was wrong he paid for it and pays for it every single day! He has to live with himself everyday knowing what he did! But I love him so much to much, I hate that he stills pains over what he did! I love him, no matter what he did, I love him!” Kelsey looked into the darkness with Melissa.
“I get how it feels for him,” Melissa gazed at the water and wiped the hair out of her face!
“How?” Kelsey asked.
“Just because,” Melissa answered.
“You, today when we did the toast, why water, everyone else was drinking?” Kelsey asked.
“Because I’m not everyone else!” Melissa turned towards Kelsey.
“What’s your secret?” Kelsey scratched the back of her head.
“Goodnight,” Melissa walked inside and laid down on her cramped bed.
Corine opened her eyes and whispered, “What’s going on?”
“Oh uh, nothing,” Melissa yawned and closed her eyes!

The next morning Josh got up really early and walked downstairs into the houses kitchen where Corine was sitting eating.
“Hey,” He sat down next to her.
“Hi,” She grumbled.
“How are we going to get out of here?” Josh asked.
“I have no clue,” Corine shoved her spoon full of corn flakes into her mouth.
“We should probably scout the island for boats, maps, radios, phones, more food, all that!” Josh moved closer to Corine.
“Cool, you can discuss that with the group today!” Corine got up to put her empty bowl into the sink.
“So, do you have a boyfriend?” Josh asked standing up next to corine.
Corine took a spoon full of cookie dough out of the freezer and stuck it in her mouth, “Nope.”
“Cool, you know I don’t have girl,” Josh grabbed the spoon out of her mouth.
“Really,” Corine played along.
“Yeah, no girl here,” He leaned in to kiss her.
Corine pushed him away, “Pervert!”
“Hey guys,” Kelsey walked down stairs.
“Hey, Kelsey be careful he’s hungry,” Corine spat and sat down on the couch.
“Ok, so I thought we could try to find our way off the island today!” Kelsey smiled.

THE HAPPENING
chapter 4
Corine walked straight up to the doors and tried opening the one labeled with her name but it wouldn’t budge. She sunk down to the sand and Melissa sat next to her.
“You don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to,” Melissa gave Corine a hug, “Can I tell you something?”
“Sure,” Corine leaned her head against the door.
“It’s right, the sky’s writing, we all have secrets I have a secret you have a secret obviously they have secrets, but none of us have to share them it’s not like well die if we don’t!”
As Melissa said this, the writing in the sky changed…
“You have three days or else!”
“Come on we better get back to the group,” Corine stood up.

The group sat down inside the house and Josh started talking, “We have to tell each other our secrets or… well I don’t know what will happen, Nate you first!”
“Well, uh,” Nate looked down at the ground.
“Babe you don’t have to if you don’t want to,” Kelsey rubbed his back.
“I was a bad person, when I was 14 I was young but I did the wrong thing,” Nate’s voice was shaky “I had a girlfriend, I had this little crush on her, and when we started dating I hated that she talked to other guys, I was jealous, I have no excuse for what I did to her. No excuse.”
“Babe!” Kelsey hugged him, clearly she already knew.
“I beat her every f*cking day! Every f*cking day! And I regret it every day and there’s no excuse for what I did! I went to juvey for a year but I deserved it I deserved much more then that! I swore I would never do that to anyone ever again, and I haven’t, but that pour girls scars will never go away, all because of me!”
“Who’s next,” Josh looked at the ground, “Keren?”
“No,” Keren answered!
“Melissa,” Josh asked.
“No,” She Melissa let a tear run down her face and she walked outside.
“We’re going to go to sleep,” Kelsey grabbed Nate’s hand.
“Where are we all supposed to sleep?” Corine asked.
“You and Melissa and Keren can sleep in Keren’s room, I’ll take the couch,” Josh answered.

chapter 3
“It’s a small party but I like it, let’s do a toast to our new homes for the next 5 weeks!” Kelsey laughed holding up her glass filled with alcohol!
“To new friends,” Corine held hers up!
“And to old friends!” Nate joined.
“To mistakes,” Josh laughed!
“And escapes,” Melissa held up her water.
“To the island,” Keren mumbled and held up her glass!
“To the island!” Everyone repeated!
As those words escaped their mouths they heard a big crunching sound!
“What the f*ck was that,” Josh ran out the door.
“What was it?” Corine yelled after him!
“You guys might want to come out here,” Joshes voice was shaky.
Melissa walked outside her water still in her hand and as she saw the sight she dropped it letting the glass shatter on the ground!
Everything on the island was gone; it was just a big piece of sand in the middle of the ocean, with the one house they were in and six white doors on the water’s edge! Each door was labeled with one of their names, and the sky had green writing that read…
“YOU ALL HAVE A SECRET! SHARE?”
“What the hell?” Keren yelled, “What the hell?” Keren yelled, “Who the f*ck is trying to f*ck with us?”
“I don’t know,” Kelsey mumbled.
“What’s happening?” Melissa asked.
“What the f*ck is going on here? Did someone drug my freaking drink?” Corine frowned.
“No! Noone drugged your drink!” Nate answer, “Unless!”
“No I didn’t and I don’t think any of the girls would! Plus were all seeing the same thing right?” Josh said.
“Then what’s going on?” Keren growled.
“I don’t know I don’t know!” Kelsey answered.
“What does it mean, by secrets?” Keren shouted.
“Stop, screaming!” Corine growled, “Who has a secret?”
“It says we all do! So what’s your secret?” Keren yelled.
“F*ck off!” Corine walked down toward the doors at the water’s edge.
“I’ll be back!” Melissa followed her!

THE HAPPENING
chapter 2
Kelsey and Nathan walked hand in hand on the beach, it was early morning and the sun was just coming up.
“Wow, this is beautiful,” She smiled and looked out onto the ocean.
“It is,” He stared at her as she walked.
“Oh, yeah, I forgot to tell you about me and Kerens idea!” She giggled.
“Wait what’s your idea?” He asked hesitantly.
“We should have a house warming party!” She pushed him playfully.
“Tonight?” He laughed a bit.
“Uh yeah,” She smiled and they walked off down the beach.

“So I heard this is the best place on the island to get breakfast,” Melissa sat down at one of the tables!
“Well we’ll see about that,” Corine sat down across from her, “So why’d you come?”
“Uh, well, uh just like everyone else, for the once in a lifetime tropical vacation,” Melissa hesitantly said.
“If you don’t want to talk about it that’s ok,” Corine began looking at the menu.
“Uh, well, why’d you come?” Melissa asked.
“My dream vacation, free, with only one class about it once a week!” She smiled.
“May I take your order,” A woman came up!

“Hey where is everyone?” Josh asked Keren as they sat on Josh’s porch.
“I think Corine and Melissa are at breakfast and Nate and Kelsey are out,” Keren answered.
“Well, I’m off to the beach, you coming?” Josh stood up.
“Yeah, sure,” Keren walked with him.
“Hot!” Josh smiled well looking at one of the girls on the beach!
“Your right about that!” Keren smiled and walked towards one of the guys.

But I’ve tried I’ve tried my absolute best to not repeat my mistakes and fix my past and my ways! So please give me a chance, to live and do everything. Everything Right,” She shouted between sobs.
~2 weeks earlier~
“This, this is where you 6 will be staying for the next five weeks!” The man smiled, “With this deal of staying on a tropical island you must attend all class schedules, usually you will have one class pure week, any questions?”
“Uh, yeah, what are these bore classes even about?” One of the boys with blonde short hair and brown eyes laughed fist pumping with another boy!
“The perfect get away you will be doing surveys and answering questions and learning about the island, hopefully creating a worthy vacation spot!” The man sighed.
“Really,” Melissa a girl with red straight hair and green eyes smiled, “What about rooming conditions?”
“You see those three houses,” he pointed towards the water to three beautiful homes, “Two to each house!”
“Who’s choosing our roomies,” Keren the girl with brown straight hair and grey eyes asked well eyeing one of the boys.
“Me,” the announcer frowned, he took out a list, “Keren with Kelsey, Corine with Melissa, and Nathan with Josh.”
“Cool,” The girl with blond curly hair and blue eyes walked towards Melissa, “Hey I’m Corine!”
“Hey, I’m Melissa,” Mel smiled, “Call me Mel, if you want!”
“Sure,” Corine laughed, “You a party girl?”
“No, not really,” Melissa frowned.
“Oh, well I’m going to show you how to party and live it up!” She laughed!
Kelsey walked slowly towards Keren, “You must be-”
“Keren,” She cut her off!
“I’m Kelsey,” she frowned.
“Well he’s fine,” Keren eyed the boy named Nathan with short brown hair and blue eyes.
“And taken!” Kelsey laughed!
“By who,” Keren smiled.
“You’re looking at her!” Kelsey walked away towards Nate.
“Well, we got a feisty one,” Keren laughed!

My story will be called The Happening!
Description:
There will be a couple of teens who move to a island off of Astralia! They meet each other and emmideatley become freinds! But they were all brought together becuase they all have a secret! Time freezes and they become the only people on the island and they cannot leave! They have to face there secrets to leave, and live!
