Catch Me if You Can
Chapter 9
Gerald and I ditched the beach, and headed for the boardwalk.
It was getting darker each minute, so all the lights were flashing on.
It reminded me of when I was at the boardwalk, with Harry, watching fireworks.
"Gerald, do you have a girlfriend?" I asked, taking a bite of my candy apple.
Gerald grinned sarcastically. "Are you interested?"
I gasped, as glared at him. "No! I'm just curious."
"I know, you've got all eyes for Harry." he muttered under his breath teasingly.
My eyes widened in horror, as I slapped his arm harshly. "No!"
"Aw, you're turning so red." Gerald continued to tease.
I cursed under my breath, as I rolled my eyes at the tanned figure.
"So, you never answered me. Do you have a girlfriend?" I asked, again.
Gerald began smiling off into space. "Yeah, her name's Lyssa. She lives in Chicago."
I frowned. "Chicago? You guys have a long distance relationships? Don't those usually turn out bad?"
Gerald smirked. "You're so negative. We call each other everyday, and she visits me once a season."
Suddenly I grinned as I began to beam.
"Is she coming this summer?! Oh, I really want to meet her!" I gushed.
"She's coming on the 23rd. You'll love her. She's just like me." he assured.
I decided to tease Gerald, as I scrunched my face up in horror.
"A-another Gerald?!" I asked, eyes widening.
Gerald shook his head, while muffling back a laugh.
He proceeded to take his cotton candy, and stuff it in my face.
I pushed his hands away, and cried, "Okay, okay! Sorry!"

When I got home later that night, my father was already dead asleep on the couch.
I took a quick shower before crawling under my soft sheets.
Just as I was about to go into a deep sleep, my phone vibrated.
I groaned. Who calls someone at midnight?
I reached over to grab my phone, and mumbled, "Hello?"
"Colby? Hey, it's me." I recognized that voice as Harry's.
I immediately shot up from my bed, biting my lip in eagerness.
"H-hi, Harry. Why are you calling me so late?" I asked.
"Sorry about that. It's just, we really need to talk about something..." Harry wandered off.
I bit my lip in nervousness. "About what?"
"Can we meet at the beach tomorrow? We'll talk then." Harry said, with his angelic voice.
"That sound's good. I'll see you tomorrow." I smiled.
"Yeah, tomorrow. Bye, Colby. I lov- Yeah, bye." he said, hanging up before I got to reply.
