I didn't wake up until the next morning. I got dressed, went downstairs, and had some breakfast.
"Good morning, granddaughter!" my vavo greeted.
"Hi, vavo. I barely saw you yesterday." I informed her.
"I know. You were so tired from the flight that I decided to let you sleep in," she told me.
"Oh okey. Hey, grandma. Do you know that kid across the street?" I asked her.
"Why yes I do. I believe your referring to the young boy that came on your flight?" I nodded and she continued. "Well, his name is Henrique and I believe he's seventeen years old," my grandma said as she wiggled her eyebrows at me.
"Hahahah, I just met him yesterday on the flight that's all ! I don't want a boyfriend right now, granny," I told her, "but I'm going for a walk down by the beach. See yah soon!"
I got out of the house, walked down the street, and found myself on the beach. Boy, do I love the scenery here. The water was so crystal clear and the sand was light grey, thanks to the volcano that had once erupted here many years ago. I sat down and dug my feet into the sand. It felt so good. I loved the beach and every time I was here I felt free. I sat there with my feet in the sand thinking about everything. I felt like I was there only for a few minutes, but I soon found out that I was there for a few hours. I decided to get an ice-cream being sold nearby and took out my euros, which was the kind of money they used in Portugal. Once I finished my vanilla ice-cream, my brother called and told me to come home so that I could eat lunch. I told him I was on my way and hung up. Geesh, brothers can be so annoying! I was fixing the belt on my shirt when someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around and couldn't believe who I saw.
"Hey. Long time no see," the guy from the airplane said.
"Yeah, you could say that," I replied.
"So, mystery girl, you still haven't told me your name," he prompted.
"How do you know I have a name?" I asked with a wink.
"Hahahh. So the mystery girl is a comedian," he said.
"Of course I am," I said with a smile , "but I'll tell you my name if you tell me something no one knows about you," I agreed.
"Why don't I just tell you my name instead?" he asked.
"I would say yes, but I already know your name. So do we have a deal?" I questioned.
"Fine. My secret is that I think I might've fallen in love with someone. Now tell me your name," he responded.
"That's not a full secret!" I argued.
"You didn't specify how much of a secret I had to give. I held up my part of the deal, so now it's your turn," he said with a daring glint in his eyes.
"The name's Christina and I'd love to chit-chat, but I've got to go home and eat," I responded truthfully.
"Okey, Christina," he said with a smile, "I'll see you soon."
I waved goodbye and continued the rest of my walk filled with thoughts of his clear blue eyes, that I couldn't get out of my head.
