Burning Flames part 2
So, its the middle of a horrendous school day, and the whole school was called down to the cafeteria for an important announcement one too serious for the loud speaker. As the kids filed into the cafeteria, and i found Autumn and made sure i sat next to her. when we found our seats, we began chatting about random things, and i could see Autumn was not herself. I was about to ask her what was wrong, but then again i would have probably gotten the normal answer of "nothing is wrong". So i searched her body and something had caught my eye; i saw a fresh wound on her wrist going down the vein. I wanted to ask what happened, but i was afraid, so i left the situation alone. When i looked on stage, there appeared my principle Mr. Lasher. He started to go on and on about why we were all in this small cafeteria. Then it hit me like lightning, Mr. Lasher had said something about suicide and my eyes went up. As my eyes started to find their way to center stage, Mr Lasher introduced a group called "To write Love on her Arms". As the group walked on stage, the students of my school started to clap. When the clapping died down, the group got right down to business and asked a very serious question,"Who here knows or knew somebody that has attempted suicide? When the guy asked the question, Autumn and I saw many hands fly up and went straight back down. Autumn and I raised our hand and slowly put them back down. For some reason they us. guys of "To Write Love on her Arms" couldn't stop starring at Autumn and I. Not only were they looking at us but they gave us a sad look. We were confused on why they were looking at us.
This thought had puzzled our minds for the duration of the assembly. The remaining of the assembly had taken about a half hour, and after it was completed Autumn and I had walked on stage and started to ask many questions about suicide and the group, and let me tell you, we were so touched on the number of teens who tries to commit suicide that i asked if there was anything we could do to help? They replied,"Well if you really want to help this cause, you can either donate money, or you can spread the word about the group and help others that are suffering with depression and or suicide thoughts." We couldn't help but do both. As we said we had to go, one of the member grabbed Autumn and told her they need to talk. Me being a good friend i stayed behind and stayed with her. They pointed out the fresh wound that i had found an hour earlier. They wanted to know what happened and I started to cry. I had no idea how to help her, but yet she had no idea i had done the same on my right wrist. To show her it was going to be ok, i showed her and "To write Love on her Arms" my wrist and to be honest, they were shocked. The group formed a circle around us and started to pray, so we bowed our heads, and closed our eyes. After they were done praying, one of the members pulled out a sharpie and grabbed one arm at a time. On the forearm where our deep cuts laid, they wrote in substantial, bold lettering "LOVE" "LOVE, showing that you shouldn't have to kill yourself because you feel you are un loved and lonely. There will always be someone there who loves you and cares for you," is what they had told us when finished writing.
