Out with a Light
Chapter 2:
The hustle and bustle of my entire family in the kitchen was almost to much to handle. My parents were still making breakfast and packing lunches, my younger sister Skye was sitting at the table, swishing her spoon in a bowl of milk, my twin brothers Alex and Danny played jungle gym on my parents, Mia, another younger sister, was sitting on the kitchen counter goofing around with the silverware, and last but not least, baby Hannah was pounding her tray table in her highchair, knocking bits of cherios to the ground.
"Is anyone going to help around here?" my dad asked, rushing over to the sink with two plates if burnt waffles, while Alex was upside down on his back making silly faces at Danny.
I walked over to where he was standing, trying to find what was left to finish when I noticed something peculiar swimming in the air. "Dad!" I shouted. He turned around and we both gasped. There was smoke everywhere.
"Gur-fune-sy!" Hannah said, which probably meant something like "Big smoke!". We all grabbed some wet towels to try and find where the fire was. Padding down all the pans, the smoke cleared allowing us to see the burnt bacon inbetween the burners on the stove.
"That was my breakfast!" Sky shouted, still sitting at the table not helping us at all. She is two years younger than me: 15. Thrilled with trying to find her a boy at Naperville High, her best friend Rachel was texting her about newbies at school.
Sometimes, I wish I had a life like her. She was pretty, popular and her personality is very sweet... well most of the time... at least when I'm not around. Still, being popular, a dream I've had for a while, would be a nice touch and would definetly help a lot with trying to land a perfect boy...
